Feasibility of Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant Wastewater for Reuse in Cement Mortar | Chapter 3 | Research and Developments in Engineering Research Vol. 7

This unit carried out practicability of R O plant wastewater for reuse in cement often with sticky material. Municipalities and major capitals in the Andha Pradesh, India, selling R O plants discussed water to people in dwellings, commercial, institutes. Most of people as political whole from these areas irrespective of public status are absorbing for drinking purpose.  Almost, all these plants are gleaning ground water for treatment and Input water situation efficiency of R O situation plant is 30 to 35 percent, and 65 to 70 allotment water is let out as wastewater.  A total of fourteen water situation plants were selected carelessly in the Narasaraopet municipality domain, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, India. During water situation, plants were discharging approximately 1,00,000 L/era as wastewater. Based on the concentrations of constituent’s in wastewater, four typical plants that is, Narasaraopeta Engineering College (NECWW), Patan Khasim Charitable Trust (PKTWW), MahmadhKhasim Charitable Trust (MKTWW) and Amara (ARWW) were taken in this study.Portland pozzolana cement (PPC)'s depiction with regard to its tangible and mechanical possessions, such as background times, compressive substance, and flexural strength, was proven in laboratories and distinguished to control specimens steal distilled water (DW) as the joining water. No significant change was noticed in initial and beat setting occasion but setting process of picked wastewaters were retarded as distinguished to that of reference water. Almost, no change was noticed in 90 days compressive and flexural strengths in four plants wastewaters examples compared to that of remark water specimens. XRD method was employed to settle main hydrate compounds formed in hydration process of cement samples cast with wastewaters. The change in 3, 7, 28, and 90 days compressive substances of test specimens steal NECWW, PKTWW, MKTWW and ARWW almost same that of reference samples made with DW. Due to occupancy of bicarbonate in wastewater, it is reacted with calcium hydroxide, fruit of rection is calcium carbonate but it does not affect on strength incident of cement mortar.

Research on Experimental Behaviour of Water Hyacinth Ash as Partial Replacement of Cement on Short Column | Chapter 14 | Advanced Aspects of Engineering Research Vol. 3

The current research looked into short column concrete under axial loading with water hyacinth ash as a cement replacement (WHA). For M30, different proportions of cement replacement by 0 percent and 10% of the cement weight can be investigated to see how strong the column is. When WHA is added to concrete, it slows down the setting time and reduces the potency of the concrete. A total of five columns were tested, including two traditional RCC columns and three RCC columns with 10% replacement. According to the results of the experiment, the optimum percentage of WHA addition to the concrete was found to be 10% of the total cement weight. WHA is used as a cement replacement in concrete, according to the findings. The compressive strength and split tensile strength of cement decrease as WHA replacement increases.
