The antifungal activity of leaf extracts of Prosopis africana and Anacardium occidentale against Macrophomina phaseolina, the causal agent of Sesamum indicum L. root rot, was investigated in this report. Fungicidal properties of plants have been discovered against a variety of phytopathogenic fungi. Alkaloids, saponins, and other phytochemicals were discovered in the two plants during a phytochemical analysis. In petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, methanol, and water extracts, flavonoids and anthraquinones were found. The efficacy of two medicinal plants, P. africana and A. occidentale, against the causative agent of Sesamum indicum L. root rot was investigated. The effect of plant leaf extracts on the test organism's mycelia growth revealed that both P. africana and A. anacardium significantly decreased mycelia growth as compared to the control (Figs. 2, 3, 4). P. africana and A. occidentale have antifungal properties, making them possible candidates for controlling Macrophomina phaseolina.
