Balancing Strategy, Innovation, and Law for Sustainable and Ethical Development| Chapter 8 | Business, Management and Economics: Research Progress Vol. 3

This article explores the intricate relationship between strategy, innovation, and legal frameworks, emphasising their collective importance in fostering sustainable and ethical business practices. Through a comprehensive literature review, detailed case studies, and empirical analysis, the study examines how leading companies such as Apple, Tesla, Patagonia, and Unilever successfully integrate strategic planning and innovation within robust legal and ethical boundaries. The discussion highlights the critical role of adaptive legal systems, the necessity of ethical guidelines, and the strategic advantages of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) principles.

The findings underscore that strategic planning must not only focus on competitive advantage but also on creating value in a dynamic business environment. Innovation, driven by technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT), is identified as a key driver of economic growth and societal progress. However, the rapid pace of technological advancement often outstrips the development of corresponding legal frameworks, necessitating flexible and principles-based regulation.

The article also discusses the practical challenges and opportunities in aligning strategy, innovation, and law, with recommendations for policymakers, business leaders, and legal experts. It calls for a collaborative approach to lawmaking, the adoption of Regulatory Technology (RegTech), and the integration of ethical considerations into business strategies. The limitations of the study are acknowledged, including the scope of the literature reviewed and the focus on large corporations in specific regions. Recommendations for further research are provided, advocating for broader studies across diverse industries and geographical contexts, primary data collection, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

This article provides valuable insights into how organisations can navigate the complexities of modern business landscapes by harmonising strategy, innovation, and legal frameworks to achieve sustainable and ethical progress.

Board Composition and Strategic Decision-Making in SMEs: Exploring the Impact of Director Attributes | Chapter 9 | Contemporary Research in Business, Management and Economics Vol. 3

This paper looks at the problems of strategic change and innovation in small- or medium-sized family firms, both from an empirical and a theoretical point of view. Using a sample of Family-Controlled Small- and medium-sized Companies, the paper shows that strategic change and innovation are complex phenomena and, at the same time, also demonstrate that corporate governance mechanisms are a limited, if significant, part of the variables which influence the firm’s strategic change and innovation. In particular, it is suggested that extending the board and the Top Management Team by involving individuals who do not belong to the dominant family has a positive effect on the firm’s strategic change and innovation. The results from the empirical analysis of the selected sample support the hypotheses. This research has implications for both corporate governance theory and for family owner-managers of SMEs. Adverse environmental conditions and the emergence of new opportunities demand strategic change and innovation and these are often difficult and problematic for the single owner-manager of the family controlled SME to realise.  Extending the group of individuals involved in difficult firm decision making may help overcome these difficulties and problems. In particular, adding individuals from outside the controlling family to the board and the TMT may increase capacity to interpret environmental change and extend the capabilities necessary to develop new resources within the firm or, more simply, to combine resources which are already present in new ways and forms. These competences and capabilities are indispensable for any process of strategic change and/or innovation in the firm.

Strategy of Sustainable Development Paradigm for Society in Research Activities Sciences, Artificial Intelligence and Institutional Transformations of the Education System | Chapter 3 | Research Aspects in Arts and Social Studies Vol. 1

In view of continuous developments in artificial intelligence and their integration into the educational process, the article explores the potential for improving the global educational system. The main focus is on how closely future AI integration techniques adhere to the sustainable development paradigm requirements established by the UN for the next ten years. In the context of the study, both advantageous and detrimental situations of human contact with AI are taken into consideration. At this stage in the development of civilisation, this task is important. In addition, restrictions on AI application and development are necessary to avoid the unpredictability of a "technology singularity" and its unintended consequences. The social and humanitarian aspects of sustainable development are frequently undervalued while environmental issues are sometimes overestimated as solely being important to natural sciences. The theoretical and conceptual underpinnings of topics including global institutional transformations, transformative higher education strategies, quality concerns, personality-oriented strategies, multiculturalism, and higher education communication strategies are revealed in this study. It outlines the extent and quality of higher education's internationalisation, the creation of a worldview as a foundation for stimulating and ensuring sustainable social development, as well as strategies to raise higher education's social responsibility and increase its efficacy for society. There is now a dearth of fundamental understanding of sustainable development's objectives and strategies in higher education.

Strategic Institutionalization from Firms: Focusing on Isomorphic Pressures Enhancing Resources | Chapter 14 |New Innovations in Economics, Business and Management Vol. 7

The goal of this study is to create a theoretical framework for how businesses exploit isomorphic forces to survive and grow in today's market. In addition to institutional techniques, the authors outline the relationship between isomorphic pressures from firms, the value of company resources, and sustained competitive advantage [1]. Because of the increasing importance of business organisations in modern society, firms can be the source of institutional influences. For this purpose, this study looks at institutional isomorphism as well as relevant theories like the resource-based view, transaction cost theory, and resource dependency theory. Following that, it gives suggestions based on theoretical considerations and inferences. Firms are meant to use coercive, mimetic, and normative isomorphic pressures to strengthen their resources. As a result, they have a better chance of outperforming competitors in today's markets. The study's ramifications are examined at the conclusion. This research broadens the scope of institutionalisation strategies by using a different approach. It also highlights the importance of corporate strategy based on corporal isomorphic forces. Practitioners are said to view their company's ability to conform to other stakeholders as a valuable strategic asset.

Strategy of MNC Subsidiaries in China: A Comparative Study | Book Publisher International

The major goal of this project is to provide comparative studies on multinational companies' (MNCs) global strategies, strategic evolution, and subsidiary categories in China, based on 150 MNC subsidiaries in China, which is the first large-scale project of its kind. MNCs from the United States, the European Union, Japan, and South Korea are divided into four strategic categories. The findings have important implications for strategic planning for companies who have established, are establishing, or plan to establish subsidiaries in China, as well as companies that compete globally. The findings are also important for the West, given the current economic crisis and the need to figure out if subsidiary expansion strategies can help Western firms achieve portfolio effects in operations while avoiding the negative effects of macro events like the current global financial and political crisis. This is the second of two volumes that will wrap up the project, with the first volume, MNC Subsidiaries in China: Strategic Perspective and Research Methodology, being the first. This book is more comparative in nature, including empirical data, analysis, comments, and recommendations for further research.

Conclusion: The comparative study found that differences in MNC subsidiary expansion and development strategies in China under various strategic backgrounds are mostly reflected in three aspects:

(1) Differences in environmental factors between the host country and the home country influence MNC subsidiaries' growth strategies in China, and differences in environmental factors between the host country and the home country influence the choice of growth and development strategies for overseas subsidiaries.

(2) The parent company's investment and strategic layout in China have an impact on the strategic performance of overseas subsidiaries, and the strategic layout has a substantial impact on the strategic performance of subsidiaries in China.

(3) Differences in the organisational structure of MNC subsidiaries in China have resulted from multinational businesses' worldwide framework. While overseas MNC subsidiaries pursue various strategies, the organisational structure of those subsidiaries must be adjusted on a regular basis.

Integrated Approach and Teamwork among Students in a University Educational Setting: Reflecting the Collaborative Bonding Akin to a Malaysian “Keluarga” | Chapter 3 | Current Research in Language, Literature and Education Vol. 1

Medical education in the twenty-first century necessitates extensive multidisciplinary problem-solving skills, similar to how multiple members of a Malaysian Keluarga (family in Bahasa Melayu) work together to solve problems in daily life, in order to provide cost-effective, high-quality health care. Despite this, medical schools appear to continue to educate medical and health sciences students in silos, with little or no interaction with other healthcare specialties. To address this issue, MAHSA University and Perdana University presented their medical students to a variety of allied health experts with whom they will likely collaborate in the future during patient care. Nursing, biomedical science, pharmacy, psychology, and occupational therapy were among the health-care professions studied at MAHSA University, as well as occupational therapy at Perdana University. A simulated case-based approach was used during a two-hour teaching session to raise medical school students' understanding of the importance of multidisciplinary contact and teamwork. Faculty from each discipline facilitated the session by providing a brief overview of their profession, including their area of practise and academic requirements, and then assisting the students in resolving challenges connected to the case's patient care. At the end of the session, participants were asked to complete a simple 12-item feedback survey questionnaire to rate their experience. Despite the fact that this was a small, exploratory research, feedback survey findings showed that participants were able to recognise the value of other healthcare professions in overall patient care, as well as when to refer to and interact with them. The results of this pilot study can be used to improve future projects of this nature.

Deming’s: Management’s Responsibility for the Utilization of Statistical Techniques in Industry | Chapter 14 | New Visions in Science and Technology Vol. 6

William Edwards Deming said in his primary work released in 1953 that better quality through the use of statistical techniques can give enterprises with a competitive edge. He also claimed that in order to accomplish a larger and more effective use of these tools, senior management should understand organisational challenges in addition to becoming familiar with the results of statistical methods. This study examines Deming's initial assumption and evaluates its contribution and lessons for the present post-industrial era, in which BIG Data is gathered and exploited by many companies across a wide range of industries in order to obtain a competitive advantage through statistical analysis. It also dispels the popular idea that analytics-based competition is something fresh and novel, serving as a wake-up call for managers in analytically challenged organisations who will suddenly be underinvesting in a function that has been around for over half a century.
