Applications of GIS Technology in a Sustainable University Campus Design, a Case Study from the University of Jordan | Chapter 6 | Research and Developments in Engineering Research Vol. 4

This phase aims to highlight the part of GIS technology as an adept tool in the city design of the university square. A university dorm is an extended place that concede possibility be connected to the city and possibly a separate city gathering if the academy is built in a land distant from settled area. The university square is not only what we see accompanying our eyes, but it is the place that creates thought and knowledge Therefore, it is for the most part intellectual assemblies before it is visual arrangement. It is used by a big group of students, members, visitors, help providers, and academics. Campus Planning includes the experience and aims of the target groups and the ability and expertise of the builder in addressing the complete needs of schools. Many schools face the same restraints as monetary development projects, and actually the history of dorm design and town design has many parallels. In addition, schools have complex working requirements that are frequently not well solved by monolithic bland buildings. The room between the houses is as significant as the houses themselves. Therefore, the goal concerning this paper is to build a geo-table to understand, resolve and predict by what method the campus will opportunity all its analyses and functions. The Study chooses the University of Jordan as a record of what happened area. It is the first academy constituted in Jordan and ordered as the best academy. It is located in Amman the capital of Jordan accompanying more than 45000 junior. The study used ArcGIS operating system and Corrected Satellite Image of the district of the University of Jordan Accordingly, we will be intelligent then to design and build a new master plan for the square. This geo-database holds spatial and attribute dossier necessary for a good design. Additionally, it will suffice in the future because updating this geo-table is easy in GIS program. In addition, the geodatabase could be secondhand as an interactive graph for the students, foreigners, and vendors of the academy. Architects and Planners can participate in the scholars’ attitudes and plans about the recent and future design of the dorm as well as all aim groups; to be more sensible in their designs. The study recommends added thirty Jordanian universities to ask the technology of GIS and to create an updated Geo-table plans.
