Electrophoretic Patterns of Proteins in the Parotoid Gland Secretion and its Extract of Bufo melanostictus (Schneider) through Urea SDS-PAGE | Chapter 4 | Challenges and Advances in Pharmaceutical Research Vol. 8

The current study was conducted to probe the electrophoretic banding patterns of proteins in the parotoid gland excerpt and its stashing of the common Indian toad Bufo melanostictus. It's known that the toxic concealment of the parotoid glands of the Bufo species contain a number of bioactive substances. The protein band patterns showed a characteristic pattern of six protein bands, some other fresh bands with weak staining, and four protein bands in parotoid gland stashing and one other band with weak staining. A marker relative molecular weight of roughly 14 – 200 KDa was used to identify the protein patterns. Rm values for protein bands were reckoned meetly. Both the protein patterns of the parotoid gland excerpt and its stashing demonstrated similarity in protein bands with minimum changes, according to the electrophoretogram.
