Relationship between Necrotizing Periodontitis and Novel Corona Virus: An Updated Review | Chapter 9 | Current Practice in Medical Science Vol. 5

The relationship between novel corona virus and necrotizing periodontitis is highlighted in the current investigation. Necrotizing ulcerative periodontitis (NUP) is a serious inflammatory periodontal disease that typically manifests quickly and is brought on by bacterial plaque. Dysbiosis in complex microbial populations in the mouth is regarded to be a main ecological stressor brought on by poor oral hygiene. This paper raises the prospect that patients with periodontitis may be more likely to experience COVID-19-related negative consequences, potentially expanding the list of factors that predispose people to acquiring severe forms of the disease after adequate clinical validation. This study also raises the prospect that patients with periodontitis may be more likely to experience COVID-19-related negative consequences, thereby expanding the list of factors that predispose people to acquiring severe forms of the disease after adequate clinical validation.
