Corona Prevention and Control | Chapter 1 | Current Practice in Medical Science Vol. 11

The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is the most significant public health issue of our time and the biggest obstacle since World War Two. The virus, with the exception of Antarctica, has spread to every continent since it first appeared in Asia late last year. Daily cases are increasing in Europe, the Americas, and Africa. By tracing contacts, testing and treating patients, limiting travel, quarantining people, and cancelling large gatherings like athletic events, concerts, and schools, countries are attempting to slow the spread of the virus. The pandemic is spreading like a tsunami that could still hit people who are least prepared to handle it. Over 1.7 million people have been affected by the coronavirus disease as of today (April 11, 2020), and over 106,000 people have died as a result. No vaccine exists, and there is no proven cure. The easiest method to avoid getting sick is to limit your exposure to this virus. Therefore, prevention is preferable to cure [1].
