Laser Nanosecond Technique, FTIR and AFM Application to Find Physical Properties of PVA Doped with Dye | Chapter 6 | New Trends in Physical Science Research Vol.7

The polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) used in this project is made using a casting procedure and doped with various amounts of methyl blue (MB). Infrared spectroscopy using Fourier transforms reveals that the peaks change in wave number and intensity. The measured Hardness by an alternative new approach utilising laser spot calculations reveals an increase in hardness by nearly 7 times from (29 to 202) N/cm2, while atomic force microscopy pictures show decreased grain size from 141.72 to 72.32 nm.
