American and South Korean Cultural Contexts: Present and Future Implications | Chapter 3 | Selected Topics in Humanities and Social Sciences Vol. 5

In many ways, the cultural surroundings of South Korea and the United States are drastically dissimilar. The goal of this research is to look into the origins of these distinctions, as well as their consequences for today's societies and any future developments. Because of the different ideologies that each nation was established on, Korea has become a very high-context society, whereas the United States is a very low-context culture. While the results of the GLOBE Study for these countries confirm a lot of what we'd expect from low- and high-context civilizations, The findings suggest that South Koreans are willing to abandon some of their old methods in favour of a more equitable society, and that the two cultures' acceptance of comparable idealised cultural norms will lead to a gradual convergence of even such widely disparate civilizations.
