Study on Image Enhancement Using Lifting and Stationary Wavelet Transforms and Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization | Chapter 6 | New Visions in Science and Technology Vol. 4

The goal is to provide a technique for image improvement that encompasses both resolution and contrast augmentation. The ability of an image to exhibit its details is referred to as resolution. For resolution enhancement, Stationary Wavelet Transform (SWT) is combined with Lifting Wavelet Transform (LWT), and for contrast enhancement, SWT is combined with Contrast limited adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE). When SWT is utilised in conjunction with LWT, the resolution is much improved while the execution time is dramatically reduced. SWT is used with CLAHE to improve contrast and reduce noise effects compared to other approaches. The proposed method produces improved outcomes, as evidenced by PSNR, Noise Estimation, and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), as well as visual results.
