The
proximal surfaces of the maxillary posterior teeth overlap, and the
temporomandibular joints are rarely depicted in their entirety. The apical
areas of the roots and the nasopalatine space, on the other hand, can be
detected clearly with this method. Distinct aspects affecting the quality and
anatomy on x-rays, as well as different film artefacts, are discussed to help
technicians perform proper radiography. Conclusion: Proper understanding of
radiography and patient positioning, as well as the application of appropriate
technical factors and the elimination of artefacts, will result in high-quality
OPG films that are simple to interpret.
