A Comparative Study on Calculated Work Function of Metals Using Metallic Plasma Model with Stabilized Jellium, Ab-Initio Approach and Experimental Values | Chapter 8 | New Insights into Physical Science Vol. 13

 The metallic plasma model was used to measure the work function of metals (MPM). The obtained findings were compared to those obtained using the stabilised jellium model (SJM), the ab-initio model, and experimental values. The stabilised jellium model was found to be in strong agreement with experimental values for simple metals, transition metals, inner transition metals, and rare-earth metals. The findings of the metallic plasma model are consistent with experimental values for The majority of metals, especially polycrystalline metals. The work function of elemental metals calculated using the SJM method was surprisingly close to experimental values. This demonstrates how the SJM can be used to measure and forecast metal work functions. Except for Ba, Ca, and Sr, the ab-initio findings were higher than experimental values, indicating that the metallic plasma model is more accurate in predicting the work function of metals.
