Glucopuncture for Postherpetic Neuralgia: A Clinical Case | Chapter 3 | Current Progress in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 6

This unit discuss about a clinical case report on Glucopuncture for Postherpetic Neuralgia. Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is ultimate common complexity of herpes zoster (HZ) or ‘shingles’ and affects a meaningful proportion of HZ cases with the disease, accompanying the elderly being most frequently and critically affected. PHN is guide significant loss of function and weakened quality of existence, particularly in the elderly, and is very resistant to treatment. This dispassionate case describes the situation of an 88-year-old patient accompanying PHN who persisted to suffer from pain for several months regardless of oral and transdermal pain treatment. The exact system of action of isotonic sweet liquid injections is likely multifactorial. Regulation of neural inflammation and upregulation of supporting-inflammatory cytokines are illustrated as effects of glucose injections. Multiple intradermal sweet liquid 5% injections allowed her to discontinue her pain cure regimen following in position or time four sessions.  The treatment approach is obviously low-priced and safe, it is unclear reason it is still underused. Having a scientific explanation of the fashion of action maybe helpful, as well as few well-designed dispassionate studies.
