Zoogeographic Determination of Soft Bottom Fishes in a Coastal Lagoon on the Pacific Coast of Baja California Sur, Mexico | Chapter 7 | Advanced Research in Biological Science Vol. 3

The aim concerning this chapter was to decide the zoogeographic affinities of the fish class associated with soft bottoms written in laguna San Ignacio, B.C.S. Coastal lagoons and estuaries are concerning matter unstable areas that usually show spatial and momentary variations of water temperature, salinity, disappeared oxygen and turbidity. This environmental complicatedness favours the ichthyofauna present there, which is generally characterized by juvenile structures that use these coastal systems as augmenting and breeding bases. However, only a few species use these ponds during their brimming life cycle, while many others use bureaucracy during a distinguishing part of their life cycle. San Ignacio pool is located on the west coast of Baja California Sur; this material of water has important bio-business-related properties. It belongs to the sober zone of the Californian province on account of its terrestrial location. The fish animal world found in the pools of Baja California Sur has been the subject of numerous research, but the dossier gathered up until now is insufficient to ensure the administration and protection concerning this lagoon's fish state. The determination of the zoogeographic closeness of the species identified in the study extent was based on the description of their distribution. Six samplings were transported at 11 sites in the lagoon, from April 2013 to April 2014; an exploratory trawl was used, and the physicochemical limits were obtained at each examining. A total of 2887 organisms from 26 families, 38 type and 46 species of fishes were calm, the largest number of species were from the Haemulidae and Serranidae kins. According to the analysis of occupancy/absence, different class were found each season. Although, skilled were more species with sweltering affinity than class with temperate similarity. The zoogeographic affinities correspond to 28% Californian Province, 4% Cortez Province, 7% Mexican Province, 41% Panamic Province, 18% Eastern Pacific and 2% Circumtropical. The hotness of San Ignacio Lagoon has an impact on the zoogeographic affinity of fishes that favor soft bottoms cause it permits species with hot and temperate affinities to exist together.
