Areca catechu L. Nut Extracts' Phytochemical Extraction and Comparative Investigation of their Antioxidant Properties | Chapter 8 | Novel Aspects on Pharmaceutical Research Vol. 2

This stage aims to compare the antioxidant possessions of different solvent extracts of Areca catechu L. The FRAP assay manifested that all Areca catechu L. nut extracts have antioxidant facilities because their IC50 principles are lower than that of ascorbic acid. The surplus antioxidant assays, such as DPPH radical scavenging, H2O2 scavenging, and Fe2+ chelating, revealed larger antioxidant activities in ethyl acetate extract and nonpolar stable extracts such as n-hexane and poison. Half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of ethyl acetate and n- hexane extracts of Areca catechu L. crazy, overenthusiastic person is less than that of the IC50 of ascorbic acid in DPPH radical scavenging assay and hydrogen whiten scavenging activity individually. Antioxidant properties of Areca catechu L. crazy, overenthusiastic person vary depending upon the various solvent extract. More research on the healing effects of Areca catechu L. seed of fruit, vegetable will be conducted on account of the isolation of components from miscellaneous solvent extracts.
