The Knowledge Transfer and Sharing Patterns of Co-Authorship Collaboration in Malaysian Research Universities Using Social Network Analysis | Chapter 9 | Current Topics on Business, Economics and Finance Vol. 6

 Throughout the earth, knowledge transfers and giving activities are a concern of policymakers as the nations transform into information based economy. While Malaysia has no irregularity in this regard, the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) set the concern on knowledge transfer and giving on Malaysia research universities (RUs) as the research, happening and commercialization initiatives and cooperations have been the key projects of Malaysia RU. However, the knowledge transfers and sharing through research cooperation and publication co-origin may happen in different circumstances including different level of authors and co-authors and bury-universities and following a time-universities. The complicatedness of the circumstances makes it troublesome to determine the information transfer level through the co-authorship cooperations. This research examines the co-origin collaboration pattern as it is trusted that co- authorship cooperation directly imitating the knowledge transfer and sharing ventures in Malaysia RUs. This study applies the social network reasoning (SNA) as a tool for a correct understanding on how academicians in Malaysia RUs transfer and giving the research’s knowledge and collaboratively issue their research’ works accompanying each other. The SNA’s structural measure results in the form of visualizations and tabulations shows that the knowledge transfers and giving activities through co-origin collaboration widely practiced by analysts affiliated with Malaysian RUs. This straightforwardly implies that information management has been widely respected and promoted in research everything in Malaysia.
