Features and Resource Potential of the Atlantic Ocean in Nigeria| Chapter 10 | Techniques and Innovation in Engineering Research Vol. 4

This affiliate provides an revised understanding of the Nigerian Atlantic waters in terms of seaward characteristics, in addition to the opportunities these traits offer to the Nigerian people and the chaste as a whole. For few time periods betwixt 1979 and 1983, Shell Nigeria contributed the wind, wave, swell, and current dossier that were analysed.  General characteristic of the presented dossier, in particular, Bonny, Forcados, Asabo and Bonga Offshores of Nigeria is bestowed. The results lead to conclusions on the usage of the Atlantic for sea food production electronics and renewable energy beginnings. It should be eminent that the Nigerian Atlantic has a low average speed of 0.3 m/s running beneath the surface waves. The Atlantic compared to different oceans of the world is too considered as most mild and benign. The exertions attempted to recreate the use of vertical pole turbines for use in such depressed underwater current velocities of 0.3 m/s—possibly hostile flow velocity of sea water in the world.
