Control of Pollutants in Crude Oil through Processing Oil Well Injection Water by Physical Methods: An Experimental Investigation| Chapter 8 | Techniques and Innovation in Engineering Research Vol. 4

In this research, two types of preservatives were used to the injection water (A and B) accompanying three different concentrations each type to a fixed book of needle water. Laboratory experiments were carried out in the Department of Petroleum Engineering, College of Engineering, University of Basra. The stickiness of the waters after adjoining these materials was determined and compared accompanying the viscosity of a sample of unrefined petroleum taken from Zubair-2 field in Basra Governorate, that feeds the South Refineries Company accompanying Zubair-1 field for the purposes of crude oil cleansing operations.Three samples were secondhand for research purposes (A1, A2, A3) and (B1, B2, B3) with weights 3, 6, 18gm each sample added to a established volume of dose water of 60ml. The results showed that the total separated salts (T.D.S) is 92ppm for needle water before addition and 117, 146, 140ppm for samples A1, A2, A3 individually and 467, 546, 710ppm for samples B1, B2, B3 respectively subsequently addition. The stickiness of Zubair-2 crude oil was calculated, which is 7.72 mm2/s, distinguished to injection water, that is 2.73 mm2/s. The stickiness of samples A1, A2, A3 are 3.98, 5.925, 9.42 mm2/s, respectively, while the stickiness of samples B1, B2, B3 were not recorded, on account of the inability of the viscometer to measure. For the purpose of weighing the height of the lubricate-crude combination accompanying the injection water, samples A!, A2, A3 were additional with preservatives with weights 9, 18, 54 gm, individually, to a fixed book of injection water for all samples by 80ml, place the heights of the combination attained 10.6, 10.8, 11.5 cm respectively. The results concerning this research confirmed a complete seclusion between the surface of the unrefined petroleum with the dose waters with an increase in the unrefined petroleum’s rise as the concentration of the preservative raised, and this means an increase in the result of the oil field while the salinity of the water waited not exceeding 146 ppm as a maximum, as the stickiness factor was secondhand in the injection water to raise the level Crude oil is instead the density when used to raise it. Which achieves control of contaminants in unrefined petroleum, especially natural and inorganic chlorides, that affect the financial aspect of the lubricate produced, apart from the occurrence of mechanics questions that lead to damage to the cleansing equipment of unrefined petroleum refineries companies.
