Internal Supply Chain Management (SCM) Integration for Long-Term Competitiveness | Chapter 1 | Modern Perspectives in Economics, Business and Management Vol. 7

Economic growth can be sustained if a country can remain competitive over time. As a result, Malaysia's government has implemented the Economic Transformation Program (ETP) to assure the country's long-term economic growth. It is widely known that a number of elements have a role in achieving long-term and sustainable economic growth. These elements are made up of internal and external supply chain management (SCM) components. External SCM components' effects on long-term and sustainable economic growth efficiency and performance have been the subject of numerous research. Only a few studies, however, have examined the impact of internal SCM components on a country's long-term and sustainable economic growth. As a result, the findings of a study conducted to determine the factors that influence internal SCM performance in terms of long-term competitiveness and economic growth are presented in this article. Interviews were conducted to obtain the perspectives of 192 electrical and electronics (E& E) manufacturers on the role of internal SCM variables in achieving long-term and sustainable economic success. Instead of looking at the full supply chain's channel participants, the study focuses entirely on the manufacturer's point of view and opinions. The findings show how internal SCM factors were incorporated in the Malaysian E&E business and how they may be improved for long-term competitiveness. This study adds to our knowledge of internal SCM integration and its impact on long-term profitability.
