Antiepileptic Drug Phenobarbital: A Chemsketch Study | Chapter 3 | New Innovations in Chemistry and Biochemistry Vol. 1

 Barbiturates are a type of drug that includes phenobarbital. It's used to treat insomnia (sleeping problems) and as a sedative to ease anxiety and tension symptoms. It's also used to keep certain forms of seizures under control. It works by lowering the brain's and nervous system's activity. Phenobarbital is a barbiturate-based nonselective central nervous system depressant that is primarily used as a sedative hypnotic and, in subhypnotic doses, as an anticonvulsant.
