An Adaptive Approach to Design, Measure and Improve IT Agility: ITAAM Framework | Chapter 10 | Current Topics on Mathematics and Computer Science Vol. 10

In order to respond successfully to rapid and unplanned changes in the business environment, information systems are obliged to adapt by gaining agility abilities, so the organisation can grow or even survive in this changing environment. As a result, organisations must be provided direction on how to design, measure, and improve their information systems' agility. In this domain, a framework has been built that is iterative, integrated, flexible, and balanced. The ITAAM framework (Information Technology Agility Assessment Model) is based on a simple model derived from the Balanced ScoreCard technique, which is widely used as a performance measurement system. The Global Agility Index is calculated using a conceptual framework, an evaluation methodology, an agility grid, and a score system. Additionally, the agility level is recognised throughout each review cycle, and a set of recommendations, as well as the appropriate organisational change guidelines, are provided. As a result, we will be able to secure long-term viability and continuous agility improvement, which is the main goal of our new organisation. We believe that the framework can be altered and generalised by activity sector or by group of activities with similar concerns and challenges (level of competition, competitiveness, changes, etc.).
