Assessment of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) and Antibiogram of Bacterial Isolates from Female Patients in Khana Local Government Area, Rivers State, Nigeria | Chapter 6 | Current Topics in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 6

In two academic and health institutions in Bori metropolis in Khana LGA, the research investigated the prevalence of UTIs and antibiography of bacterial isolates from female patients. Standard microbiological protocols were followed to confirm the aetiologic agents and potential chemotherapy antibiotics. The findings show that of the six hundred (600) female patients surveyed, 360 (60 percent) were surveyed.  Major bacteriuria was demonstrated and 240 (40 percent) were negative. Among female adults aged 31-35 years, the highest percentage prevalence of 90 (25 percent) occurred, followed by 80 (22.2 percent) female adults aged 36-40 years and 30 (8.3 percent) young females aged 16-20 years as a minimum. The ones  In reproductive age , women are among the elevated UTI prevalence. A total of six (6) bacterial infections E. has been described as a species consisting of Escherichia coli, Proteus sp., Klebsiella sp., Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus sp (coagulase negative) and Pseudomonas. The most prevalent one is coli. The antibiotic susceptibility test showed that all bacterial species examined were extremely susceptible to Ciprofloxacin, Augmentin, and Sparfloxacin. Gram-positive bacteria were susceptible to Tarivid and Peflacin, but certain drugs (Tarivid and Peflacin) were immune to Gram-negative bacteria. Species of Staphylococcus showed high resistance to Erythromycin, but all Gram Gra tests

With the exception of the Pseudomonas genus, negative bacteria are vulnerable to it. It is therefore crucial that particular uropathogens be established, accompanied by antimicrobial susceptibility testing for UTI patients to control their impact.
