Teacher Licensing and Valid Acuity to Quality Teaching in Ghana | Chapter 12 | Research Highlights in Language, Literature and Education Vol. 7

 The main objective concerning this study was to explore collaborators’ perception on the influence of teacher licensing on prospective educators towards quality teaching. Due to depressed proficiency levels of essential education by practicing teachers in addition to anticipated fears on the part of potential teachers, the National Teaching Council executed Teacher Licensure Exams to ensure teacher ability, effective education and teacher quality. However shareholders in the teaching fraternity composing of educators, politicians, correspondents, pre-service teachers and educator unions appear to have varied belief on the impact of licensing teachers utilizing written test. The study engaged a total of two thousand seven hundred and quadragenarian-two (2742) participants who countered to an online survey solicitation for their views on whether licensure test can improve origin and practicing teachers’ education skills. Data calm was organized using commonness tables and doughnuts whereas explanatory statistics were used for the study quantitatively. Results showed that although education could be checked in the light of learning and testing, licensure tests manage not measure all requirements and competencies educators need to possess before undertaking. The study could not give enough evidence to organize the extent to which licensure test boosts beginning faculty members’ teaching proficiency and productiveness.
