Around the world, spectrum measurement efforts have revealed that a considerable portion of radio spectrum is underutilised. The bulk of spectrum measurement campaigns, according to the literature, employ commercially available antennas. For Spectrum Occupancy Measurement in this communication, a novel circularly polarised wide axial ratio bandwidth circularly polarised microstrip antenna is designed. The antenna's impedance bandwidth is -10 dB from 700 MHz to 2.9 GHz, and its axial ratio bandwidth is -3dB from 1.5 GHz to 2.7 GHz. The antenna prototype has been constructed, and the simulated and measured results are extremely similar. The antenna's spectrum sensing ability is next tested using a spectrum sensing measurement setup, which displays outstanding spectrum sensing ability in an outdoor environment, with -24 to -31.5 dBm in GSM 900 MHz, LTE 2.1 GHz, and ISM 2.4 GHz bands. The proposed antenna is small, lightweight, and easy to add into a spectrum sensing measuring system. The proposed antenna's spectrum sensing ability is tested using a spectrum occupancy measurement setup, and the findings are determined to be superior to the antenna used in the literature.
