Optimization of Throughput for the Secondary Users with Novel Cooperative Spectrum Sensing Frame Structure | Chapter 09 | Novel Perspectives of Engineering Research Vol. 6

Cooperation can considerably increase spectrum sensing performance in cognitive radio (CR) networks. We propose an unique cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) frame structure in which CR users simultaneously perform spectrum sensing and data transmission over two separate parts of the main user (PU) spectrum band in this study. The energy detection sensing scheme is utilised to demonstrate that there is one optimal sensing bandwidth for the CR network that gives the best throughput. We focus on the appropriate sensing parameters of the proposed sensing technique to enhance the CR network's throughput while ensuring that PUs are adequately protected and that the requisite bandwidth for possible CR user data transmission is available. Simple methods are also developed that jointly optimise the sensing bandwidth and the final judgement threshold. In comparison to a CR network that simply optimises the sensing bandwidth or the final decision threshold, our simulation results suggest that optimising both the sensing bandwidth and the final decision threshold together will boost the throughput of the CR network.

Development of A Wide Axial Ratio Bandwidth Circularly Polarized Antenna for Spectrum Occupancy Measurement Campaign | Chapter 8 | Recent Advances in Mathematical Research and Computer Science Vol. 3

Around the world, spectrum measurement efforts have revealed that a considerable portion of radio spectrum is underutilised. The bulk of spectrum measurement campaigns, according to the literature, employ commercially available antennas. For Spectrum Occupancy Measurement in this communication, a novel circularly polarised wide axial ratio bandwidth circularly polarised microstrip antenna is designed. The antenna's impedance bandwidth is -10 dB from 700 MHz to 2.9 GHz, and its axial ratio bandwidth is -3dB from 1.5 GHz to 2.7 GHz. The antenna prototype has been constructed, and the simulated and measured results are extremely similar. The antenna's spectrum sensing ability is next tested using a spectrum sensing measurement setup, which displays outstanding spectrum sensing ability in an outdoor environment, with -24 to -31.5 dBm in GSM 900 MHz, LTE 2.1 GHz, and ISM 2.4 GHz bands. The proposed antenna is small, lightweight, and easy to add into a spectrum sensing measuring system. The proposed antenna's spectrum sensing ability is tested using a spectrum occupancy measurement setup, and the findings are determined to be superior to the antenna used in the literature.

Distributed Detection in Cognitive Radio Networks: Recent Developments | Chapter 3 | Emerging Trends in Engineering Research and Technology Vol. 4

Withtheincrease of wirelessservices anddevices, andthe need tomaintain theirQoS requirements, the demand for spectral bandwidth has increased in recent years. The traditional spectrum allocation techniques have led to inefficient spectrum utilisation. In this project, we analyse a new paradigm called Dynamic Spectrum Access , using energy detection methods in case of real-valued and complex-valued signals. An energy efficient detection is also proposed in a distributed cognitive network for the case of a single SU and N PUs, where N > 1. The cognitive radio network also has to pay a cost whenever a SU switches a channel. In this scenario, detection algorithms are also proposed absed on myopic approach.
