Self-Embedded Foreign Bodies in the Lower Urinary Tract | Chapter 9 | Current Topics in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 12

In clinical practice, we see several patients in different parts of the urinary tract with calculi. However, it is seldom found to be a strange alien entity that masquerades as a calculus, such as clips, pins, electric wires and coins. Psychiatric or sexual diseases are also associated with autoeroticism in these patients, causing them to introduce certain foreign items into the urinary tract. Usually, these can be extracted by an endoscopic method, but an open approach can rarely be needed. In cases of self-insertion of foreign bodies into the urinary tract, significant male predominance is observed.
