Using a generalised tight-binding model, the combined effects of asymmetric (square or V-shaped) notch and uniaxial strain are studied in a zigzag graphene nanoribbon (ZGNR) system. Within the formalism of Landauer-Büttiker, the spin polarisation and conductance-gap properties were found to be tunable for uniaxial strain along the ribbon-length and ribbon-width for an ideal ZGNR and square (V-shaped) notched ZGNR systems. Important notch-dependent reductions to the conduction distance were initiated by Uniaxial strain along the ribbon-width for strains ≤ 10 percent. Important variations in the spin-dependent conduction results with respect to the system-type are seen at 20 percent strain in the y-direction. It is found that a square-shaped notch limits the conduction-gap starting at 10 percent pressure. These strains also induced spin-dependent modifications for the V-shaped notch, resulting in a semi-conductive state and metallic state for each respective spin-type at 20 percent strain, thus demonstrating potential quantum mechanisms for spin-filtration.
