Nigcomsat-1R Satellite-Based Augmentation System(SBAS) Test Bed Trial: A Scientific Explanation | Chapter 6 | Recent Developments in Engineering Research Vol. 11

In October 2016, China Great Wall Industry Corporation and Spacestar Technology Company Ltd of China entered into a cooperative agreement with Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd on a Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT-1R) augmentation system using NIGCOMSAT-1R L Band performance test and evaluation of the Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS). A Navigation Overlay Service (NOS) known as the Nigerian Satellite Augmentation System (NS) is provided by the NigComSat-1R Navigation (L-band) payload (NSAS). In order to verify functional specifications, performance validation of units, sub-systems and systems of both the SBAS payload and ground infrastructure before a pilot project demonstration of capabilities and proof-of-concept nationally and extension to other locations and regions of Africa, this paper discusses test bed experimentation conducted together with partners.
