Hemifacial Hyperplasia | Chapter 11 | Current Topics in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 12

Hemifacial hyperplasia, a congenital malformation symbolized by the hard and soft tissues' prominent unilateral facial overdevelopment. The affected side develops rapidly, producing a notable asymmetry that presumably includes the skeleton and teeth, as well as all components of the soft tissues associated with it. This condition, diagnosed at birth, progresses into puberty and is not thought to progress further. To sufficiently describe the etiology, there is no single theory. Only facial tissue deformities, including teeth and their associated jaw tissues, are crucial findings for the proper diagnosis of CHH.
