Two compounds derived from p-hydroxyacetophenone were identified by the phytochemical analysis of Calea prunifolia HBK, and compound 1 showed adequate anti-inflammatory activity (58.33 percent) when considering that this is a natural product. While they are structurally similar to compound 2's anti-inflammatory activity, they were not important (2.08 percent ). The test was performed in an inflammation model induced by topical application of 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) to the ear of mice, positive control was performed with indomethacin, and negative controls were performed with vehicle-only treatment. These findings allow for the identification of a group of pharmacophores that can result in compounds with improved anti-inflammatory activity through molecular modelling studies and organic synthesis. Assuming that the variation is small between the molecules. It suggests that in order to obtain an active and healthy drug, compounds isolated from Calea prunifolia HBK are likely to be synthetically modified to boost anti-inflammatory function.
