IR Spectroscopic Characterization of the C76-D2 and C84-D2:22 Isomers for their Qualitative and Quantitative Determination| Chapter 11 | Recent Developments in Engineering Research Vol. 10

The FT-IR spectra of the stable D2 symmetry C76 and C84 isomers, isolated by new, advanced extraction and chromatographic methods and processes, were reported at room temperature by the KBr technique over the related 400 to 2000 cm-1 area. All the infrared bands observed were in excellent agreement with the potential measurements of semi-empirical QCFF/PI, DFT, and TB for these fullerenes, which were provided as evidence of their validity. It calculated the molar absorptivity ε and the integrated molar absorptivity ψ of their IR absorption bands, both the primary, convoluted and deconvoluted. Excellent agreement was found between the relative intensities of the maximum of main and characteristic absorption determined from ελ and the values of ψλ in appropriate ranges of integration. For the quantitative determination of the C76-D2 and C84-D2:22 isomers, these findings are important. For their recognition and quantitative evaluation, all the data obtained are relevant either in natural resources on Earth and in space or in artificially synthesised and biomaterials, electronic, optical and biomedical devices, sensors, polymers, optical limiters, solar cells, organic field effect transistors, special lenses, diagnostic and therapeutic agents, biomedical pharmaceutical agents.
