False Pregnancy (Pseudocyesis): A Rare Case Report of a Non Fertile Indian Women| Chapter 2 | Perspective of Recent Advances in Medical Research Vol. 1

 The objective concerning this article search out present a patient with pseudocyesis. A 46 age, Hindu, married, educated, nonfertile woman of middle socioeconomic status, from city part of Tripura, India, was the Gynaecology & Obstetrics Out Patient Department (OPD) of Agartala Govt Medical College, India for antenatal examination with the complaints of amenorrhea for 34 weeks, swollen abdomen, eating disorder, nausea, vomiting, pressure gain, and breast satiation. The women felt before birth movement in last five months.Gynecologic test showed neither pregnancy nor postpartum state. Urine for gestation test was negative. Laboratory findings containing complete haemogram, blood glucose, creatinine, urea, lipid profile, uric acid, electrolytes, liver function tests, urinary routine test, pituitary hormones, thyroid profile, testosterone, oestrogen, and progesterone all were inside normal level. Ultrasonography of whole abdomen was usual. After that, she was consulted Gastroenterologist for the frequent sickness in stomach, vomiting, and abdominal inflation. Subsequently she was referred to Department of Psychiatry, AGMC & GBP Hospital, Agartala, Tripura. After particularized history and mental rank examination the disease of pseudocyesis (undifferentiated somatoform disorder, in accordance with ICD 10 criteria) was fashioned and the patient who was acutely sleepless, tearful, infrequently agitated, exhibiting referential plans. She was managed accompanying supportive psychotherapy & tablet clonazepam 0.5 mg two times daily for two weeks.
