Hearing Acuity among Commercial Motorcyclists (Okada Riders) in the Main Campus of Abia State University Uturu Abia State Nigeria | Chapter 3 | Perspective of Recent Advances in Medical Research Vol. 5

 The test state consisted of 200 motorbike operators who had happened in the vocation for not completely a year. Commercial motorbike operation has risked significant roles in gathering peoples’ conveyance need, especially in sure strategic locations of city and rural conclusions. At the same time, the control group was derived from the stick and students of Abia State University, Uturu, the one were sex and age-matched and unprotected to low cacophony levels. Findings indicated that the cry levels at the operational site of the test population (commercial motorbike park) was significantly (P<0.001) above that recorded at the control section (classrooms and environs). The study found that the trial threshold of the right and abandoned ears of the test group was significantly (P<0.001) above that reported for the control group by any means the frequencies tested for two together air and bone conductions. This study too showed that the commonness of symptoms associated with extreme levels of noise was considerably (P<0.001) higher in the test group (motorbike operators) distinguished to their control counterparts (staff and undergraduates of ABSU). The study also told that while 75% of the test population had injured hearing intelligence, only 45% of the control population had the same question. The test subjects had a taller frequency of manifestations associated with prolonged uncovering to excessive explosion levels than the control subjects.In conclusion, it was settled through this study that commercial motorbike operators within the main dorm of Abia State University, Uturu are exposed to overdone noise levels that predisposes them to hearing impairment.
