Noise Pollution in Dental Education: Health Risks and Mitigation Strategies | Chapter 5 | New Ideas Concerning Arts and Social Studies Vol. 2

Dental professionals are exposed to various occupational hazards, including noise pollution caused by dental instruments, particularly high-speed handpieces. Since their introduction in the late 1950s, concerns have been raised about their impact on auditory health, as prolonged exposure to high noise levels can lead to both auditory effects (such as hearing impairment, tinnitus, and acoustic trauma) and extra-auditory effects (including stress, cardiovascular issues, cognitive impairment, sleep disturbances, and risks during pregnancy). The acoustic environment in dental education is especially affected due to the simultaneous use of multiple devices, with studies showing noise levels in preclinical training rooms ranging from 69 dB to 81 dB—close to or exceeding the 80 dB threshold set by international standards for preventive action. Factors such as noise intensity, frequency, exposure duration, and individual susceptibility influence the degree of risk. To mitigate these effects, it is essential to implement noise reduction strategies at three levels: at the source (using quieter, well-maintained equipment and limiting unnecessary noise), during propagation (with acoustic treatments like absorbent materials and soundproof barriers), and through individual protection (including earplugs, noise-canceling headphones, and regular audiometric tests). Additionally, using sound level meters to monitor exposure and integrating haptic simulators for silent learning are recommended approaches to improve acoustic comfort and ensure a safer, healthier educational environment in dental schools.

Acoustic Safety in Power Engineering: Calculating Sanitary Protection Zones for Gas Turbines and Combined Cycle Units | Chapter 4 | Current Perspective to Physical Science Research Vol. 5

 Tangible safety issues are now appropriate increasingly important in the history of society. For capacity engineering, among the issues of referring to practices or policies that do not negatively affect the environment safety, the problem of audile safety stands out. The question of acoustic environmental security is due to the experience that the operation of power supplies is associated with an increased clamor level not only on the territory of the thermal energy-producing station, but also on the border of the sanitary guardianship zone. These issues are exceptionally relevant for thermal capacity plants located in close proximity to dwellings areas. In this work, audile calculations were performed to decide the sanitary care zone for gas transformer units (GTU) and combined era gas units (CCGT) of differing capacities in order to obey sanitary flags for the noise factor. Clean standards for the noise determinant are adopted for the boundaries of clean protection zones for the night occasion. A formula has happened obtained for calculating the breadth of the sanitary protection district depending on the capacity of smoke turbine units and linked cycle plants, and their number. It is proved that the sanitary protection district (SPZ) of a power unit of extreme capacity is smaller than the clean protection zone of various units of the alike capacity. Quietness as a Reflection of an Aesthetic Concept in Contemporary Music | Book Publisher International

This article examines the theoretical understanding of quietness and its significance in contemporary culture. Quietness is explored as a cultural phenomenon, defining its cultural and philosophical significance. It also highlights the different forms found in the culture, such as pauses, fading sound, stillness, and tranquillity. The paper analyses the interaction and mutual reversibility of noise and music. It treats this process as a natural progression in music art development. A new notion of quietness' functional specificity in music composition is introduced in the article: the ‘quiet’ finale, the non-culminating finale, the postlude, and the fading of the sound.

The monograph examines the poetics of quietness in contemporary musical art and examines the different forms of stillness in culture. The paper explores the multi-dimensional nature of stillness, encompassing both existence and interpretation, drawing on Cage and Schiarrino interpretations. The author explores the poetics and manifestations of quietness in musical works, examining the 'movement pattern' of quietness in compositions and attempting to classify culminations involving the concept of quietness.

Quietness is seen as a figurative and semantic universal that connects different artistic tendencies and enables the synthesis of different art forms. Its significance in music is evidenced by composers such as Gubaidulina, Schnittke, Cage, Nono, Mahler and Pärt, who consistently use it as a stylistic characteristic.

Evaluating the Vestibular Function in Chronic Noise Exposure Subjects | Chapter 3 | Research Highlights in Disease and Health Research Vol. 7

 This branch aims to evaluate vestibular function in issues with chronic roar exposure. It is famous that noise can cause vestibular disturbances; Haberman first identified this effect in 1890 in tinkers the one had occupational trial loss. The study contained eighty subjects who were detached into 2 groups: 60 subjects unprotected to noise in ironing with mean age 41.53±11.15 (study group) and 20 cases not exposed to blast with mean age 38.60±6.48 (Control group). This study demonstrated raised hearing beginning at audiometric frequencies 2-8 KHz (pv <0.001) and talk discrimination (pv <0.001). Moreover, there was a advantageous link between the distance of exposure and the belongings on the auditory and vestibular systems. According to this study, clamor has an evident affect the auditory and vestibular systems.

Hearing Acuity among Commercial Motorcyclists (Okada Riders) in the Main Campus of Abia State University Uturu Abia State Nigeria | Chapter 3 | Perspective of Recent Advances in Medical Research Vol. 5

 The test state consisted of 200 motorbike operators who had happened in the vocation for not completely a year. Commercial motorbike operation has risked significant roles in gathering peoples’ conveyance need, especially in sure strategic locations of city and rural conclusions. At the same time, the control group was derived from the stick and students of Abia State University, Uturu, the one were sex and age-matched and unprotected to low cacophony levels. An Overview on Environmental Management in Aviation | Chapter 5 | Challenging Issues on Environment and Earth Science Vol. 7

Air transportation contributes significantly to the global economy's health and well-being. Aviation improves our quality of life by allowing us to see friends and family, travel, see new areas, and shrink the world. Furthermore, the aviation industry employs 56 million people globally in direct, indirect, and induced jobs. Aviation, on the other hand, has a number of negative effects on the environment: residents living near airports are subjected to aircraft noise; aircraft engines emit greenhouse gases and other pollutants into the atmosphere; large amounts of energy and water are consumed for passenger needs, as well as large volumes of waste; streams, rivers, and wetlands may be impacted; and streams, rivers, and wetlands may be impacted. Many species of plants and animals are expatriated from the region of airports due to contaminants produced in storm water runoff from airports. These negative externalities have been recognised in recent decades, and the aviation industry is rapidly implementing mitigation measures. To achieve environmentally friendly results, national and international authorities, aviation institutions, aircraft manufacturers, airlines, and airports produce advisory documents and manuals, set environmental standards, implement new technology, and implement environmental management systems. Noise, air, and water quality; energy usage, trash production, and biodiversity protection are all aspects of environmentally responsible activities. This chapter provides a comprehensive summary of the negative environmental consequences of air travel, as well as the actions taken by the aviation industry to ameliorate these consequences.

Reaction of Clients and Fitness Instructors to Noise in Fitness Centers | Chapter 6 | Issues and Development in Health Research Vol. 1

 In Brazil, noise is becoming increasingly associated with leisure activities, such as working out in fitness centres, where thousands of instructors and clients are exposed to high sound pressure levels for several hours each day without any protection. This is concerning for their emotional and physical well-being. This study looked at the effects of noise on instructors and clients in fitness centres using measurements of sound pressure levels – equivalent sound levels (Leq), minimum (Lmin), and maximum (Lmax) levels, as well as simulations of acoustic parameters (reverberation time – RT and speech transmission index – STI). The information was gathered Odeon Room Acoustics v. 9.2 Combined software was used to run computer simulations. Based on their responses to a questionnaire, the impacts of noise on instructors and clients at fitness centres were found. The data were statistically analysed using R version 2.11.1 software, with a level of significance of 5% (p 0.05). The results showed that sound pressure levels (Leq) ranged from 82 to 100 decibels (A), with a maximum level (Lmax) of 117.2 decibels (A), exceeding the legally mandated noise limitations. It was discovered that changes made in fitness facilities reduced reverberation time and changed the rating of the voice transmission index from poor to average. Tiredness and vocal exhaustion were regular complaints from clients and instructors. By the end of the day, fitness instructors allegedly experienced a variety of voice changes, the most common of which was hoarseness. It was concluded that, contrary to expectations, fitness centre environments where people seek to improve their health and engage in leisure activities have high sound pressure levels similar to those found in industrial environments, posing a serious threat to the health of their clients and, in particular, their working fitness instructors. The findings of this study clearly show the necessity for methods to reduce and regulate the negative impacts of noise in the fitness industry. centres. This can be accomplished by limiting the amount of noise that exercise instructors and clients are exposed to, such as installing noise absorption materials on the ceilings and walls of fitness centres. Eliminate the volume of music played during workout sessions as another strategy to reduce noise.
