Study On Development and Configuration of Uhf and Ku Signals Measuring Instrumentation System across Climatic Zones of Nigeria | Chapter 12 | Recent Advances in Mathematical Research and Computer Science Vol. 2

This study describes a Ku and UHF bands integrated cloud-connected, multicentre instrumentation system that scientists and radio researchers can use to monitor and store Ku and UHF signals data in real time across Nigeria's climatic zones. Data is transferred with the systems utilising logging software coupled to the USB connections that connect the instruments to the computer. The logging software plots graphs for the various quantities detected, whereas the viewing software collects data from a cloud service, displays its values, and plots graphs in its graphical user interface (GUI). Amazon Web Services (AWS) manages the cloud architecture, which includes a web application that connects to many data centres and makes the data acquired available in real time via viewing software. The system's versatility allows for changes in Ku signal polarisation to vertical or horizontal polarisation, as well as displaying the properties of the satellite whose downlink signal is being measured with other information about its position. Upgrades can be made while reporting and viewing locations from a specific site using the web application that connects the locations together. Configurations also improve the ability to view information on Ku and UHF signal differences from any other location in Nigeria's climatic zones from a specific location. This equipment system provides critical data for radio scientists and engineers to build detailed and realistic models of (Ku and UHF) signal fading and attenuation, which will help with budgeting and planning for terrestrial and satellite communications in Nigeria's various climate zones.
