The significant unpredictability of the natural service environment makes predicting environmental effects on fibre reinforced polymers problematic. By discretizing the exposure history, this research proposes a method for predicting thermal strain distribution across the material lifespan. The predicted and experimentally measured strain distributions are well correlated, according to laboratory findings. It is demonstrated that by discretizing the exposure history, thermal stresses due to varying environmental temperature may be predicted.
