Impacts of Human Interventions on River System and Functions | Chapter 2 | Emerging Challenges in Environment and Earth Science Vol. 1

Water resource protection has become a serious challenge for all emerging countries nowadays. The river system is being harmed by the rapid rise of people and the acceleration of commercial activities in and along the river. Cities located beside rivers are more likely to have similar issues. Due to human influence, water resources are becoming scarce in some areas. Human interventions on the river system and functions have been researched with this perspective in mind. The goal of this research was to look into the same effects in greater depth. Many human activities along the river, such as dam construction, channel diversion, vegetation removal, residential and religious activities, sand mining, and brick production, have been observed to have negative affects on the river as well as socio-economic disruption in the region. The main goal of this research is to evaluate the effects of human interventions on river systems and functions.
