The purpose of this study was to see how information security policies affected security breaches in Kenyan public universities. The purpose of information security policies is to protect network resources against security breaches. The study's goals were to see if there was a link between network security policies and information security breaches, to see if there was a link between server security policies and information security breaches, to see if there was a link between application security policies and information security breaches, and to see if there was a link between information security policies and information security breaches. The researchers used a questionnaire to gather primary data from IT workers at public institutions about how information security policies affect computer security breach incidences. 200 IT personnel from Kenyan public universities were identified using a simple random selection method. The associations between the variables were investigated using Pearson correlation analysis. The degree of significance was determined using independent t-tests (2-tailed) and the ANOVA test. According to the study's findings, there is a shaky link between information security rules and security breaches. The study aims to contribute to the corpus of academic knowledge in Kenyan public educational institutions where information repositories are a valuable resource.
