Assess the Attitude of Adult towards Mentally Ill | Chapter 12 | Recent Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 3

Mental health is an important aspect of overall well-being. Mental disease is a state of discord between the individual and the environment, a state of discord between oneself and others, and a coexistence of the self's reality. Mental diseases are one of society's most misunderstood conditions. Because of the public's perspective of mental illness and the associated societal stigma, it has been generally overlooked or neglected. Mental illness is a change in one's way of life, and others' attitudes have a significant impact on the mentally ill individual. As a result, having an optimistic mindset helps them. The goal of this study was to evaluate the relationship between adult attitudes toward mentally ill people and socio-demographic features of adults. The current investigation was conducted using a descriptive research design. A total of 100 adults make up the sample. Adults' attitudes toward mentally ill people are measured using the attitude scale. Inferential statistics and descriptive statistics were used to analyse the data.

The results of the study revealed that out of 100 adults, 68 percent of the participants had a positive attitude, 31% had a moderate attitude, and 1% had an unfavourable view. There is a strong link between attitude and education and career.
