Determination of Characterization and Evaluation of Probiotic Fish Feed | Chapter 03 | New Visions in Biological Science Vol. 4

Probiotic feeds, such as Bacillus subtilis, Lactococcus lactis, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, have a positive effect on the host animal. The nutritional benefits of probiotic feed and its use are investigated in this study. Probiotics increase weight gain and survival through altering enzymes and microbial metabolism. In recent years, probiotics and prebiotics have been combined in diets. Synbiotics and probiotics work together to provide synergistic and more beneficial results. This study analysed and characterised the increased advantage of formulated probiotics and their benefits in maintaining high water quality and quick growth of L. rohita, as well as a potential feed and unique technique to be applied in aquaculture. The use of probiotics in aquaculture has enhanced growth, attachment to intestinal mucus, and the synthesis of beneficial substances, all of which might be considered when looking to boost growth.
