The auxiliary spleen is a spleen variation discovered during development. The auxiliary spleen was discovered in the lieno-renal ligament of a female cadaver during regular dissection. This spleen measured 3 cm in length and 2 cm in width. Histological confirmation of its structure was obtained. It weighed 2.5 grammes. The spleen was of normal size. For radiologists and surgeons, this diversity is critical.
