A Cephalometric Study of Adult Maharashtra Population | Chapter 03 | New Frontiers in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 17

The study's purpose was to establish cephalometric norms among Maharashtra's adult population. There were 100 boys (18-25 years old) and 100 females (18-25 years old) in this study (age between 18-25 years). The participants in the study had all spent three to four generations in Maharashtra. The patients were all classified as having class I malocclusion and were growing and developing normally. The maxillary and mandibular arches of each person were precisely aligned. As bony landmarks, Nasion (N), Sella (S), Gonion (Go), Pogonion (Po), Gnathion (Gn), Articulare (Ar), and Menton were used (Me). These landmarks were used to analyse anterior facial height (AFH), posterior facial height (PFH), anterior cranial base (ACB), posterior cranial base (PCB), facial angle, saddle angle, and facial height ratio (FHR). In the study, gender dimorphism was shown to be considerably different. The current study establishes surgically effective cephalometric parameters for the diagnosis and treatment planning of orthognathic surgery in adult Maharashtrians for use in the treatment of facial abnormalities.
