A Comparative Analytical Study of Probability of Failure of Concrete in Bending and Direct Compression as per IS 456:2000 and as per IS 456:1978| Chapter 10 | Recent Developments in Engineering Research Vol. 7

The paper aims to evaluate the reliability index of various concrete grades of bending compression and direct compression in both the method of limit state and the method of working stress by considering the allowable stresses in both methods by the method of reliability of Level I. Thus, for various grades of concrete, the likelihood of concrete failure in bending compression and direct compression in both the restricted state method and the working stress method is contrasted. Code authorities should also integrate acceptable standard concrete deviations in order to ensure uniform quality control, taking into account all applicable experimental and statistical criteria when applying them to higher concrete grades, in order to ensure consistent concrete durability.
