Percent Coefficient of Variation (%CV) Formula for Log-transformed Data from Lognormal Distributions | Chapter 11 | Research Updates in Mathematics and Computer Science Vol. 1

The coefficient of variation (CV) serves as a dimensionless metric commonly employed to assess the variability within a population in relation to its standard deviation. It is conventionally expressed as a percentage (1). When considering the percent coefficient of variation (%CV) for data subjected to logarithmic transformation, it becomes crucial to apply the appropriate %CV formulation designed for lognormally distributed data. A thorough examination of various journals reveals a recurring issue where the %CV formula for log-transformed data is inaccurately applied, particularly in cases involving naturally exponential distributions that undergo transformation to linearity (i.e., lognormal distributions). This chapter establishes a framework for the accurate application of the mathematical formula for %CV in the context of data derived from a lognormal probability distribution.

Study on Genetic Variation in Different Physiological Characters of Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Grown under Rainfed Condition | Chapter 5 | Emerging Issues in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 1

Grain legumes are the second main crop after cereals for human and animal diets and has main place in the world’s food and nutrition frugality. Grain legumes being a high beginning of protein alleviating protein deficiency and hunger of poor population in developing countries. The nitrogen fixing capability of legumes helps in sustaining the soil virility and texture (Graham and Vance 2003). Legume crop has low and doubtful productivity cause they mostly grown on borderline land under rainfed situation. Besides the hares new arid condition and rainfed position, lack of high yielding assortment, incidences of ailment and insect pest attack, sowing period, inadequate implantation and agronomic practices are the other bigger causes of low output of this crop. Genetic makeup helps in deciding the potential yield of crop. The availability of ancestral diversity and allure successful collection, perpetuation, utilization and preservation is pre-requisite for crop improvement program. The off-course genetic variety in any crop helps in identifying genotypes that maybe used in cultivating high-yielding assortments through hybridization. The historical variability existing in cluster grain germplasm has been judged by using differing morphological and biochemical traits. Conspicuous semantic variations are presented for branching (branched/unbranched), fertility (hairy/smooth), pod shape (straight/incise), growth habit (definite to indeterminate), pod posture pattern (regular/irregular). The study ratifies that the number of pods and number of branches are main characters for improvement of source yield in clusterbean.

The Use of Statistical Methods to Evaluate the Quality of Finishing of Building Products and Construction | Chapter 5 | Recent Trends in Chemical and Material Sciences Vol. 2

The goal of this project is to create guidelines for ensuring the quality of paints and varnishes used in construction products and structures. The utilisation of statistical methods for managing product quality when painting construction products and structures is discussed. The quality of the finish is demonstrated to be dependent on the method of applying the paint as well as the porosity of the cement substrate. The issue of paint and varnish coating qualities safety during storage and operation is serious and important. The minimal roughness value of the coating surface and the minimum value of the risk are common in the event of applying paints to the putty surface, independent of the technique of application, for coatings based on all types of paints. The adoption of the kaizen approach to the renewal of staining technology, based on continuous improvement of activities and providing for the use of statistical methods for managing product quality, is offered to organisations and enterprises engaged in the execution of finishing works. The effect of the quality of a coating's look on the coating's lifetime is discussed. It has been demonstrated that coatings with a high roughness index have poor exploitation durability. A model of the cohesive strength of coatings based on surface roughness is presented.

Study on Regional Disparities in Cropping Intensity and Relative Impact of Irrigation in Manipur | Chapter 2 | New Perspectives in Agriculture and Crop Science Vol. 3

An significant indicator of cultivation status in any area is the cropping rate. Since the area's crop production depends largely on the current irrigation facility, irrigation is a very significant non-physical input to agriculture. This paper therefore attempted to examine district wise success in Manipur's cropping intensity and irrigation's effect on cropping intensity. The data was taken from various issues from 1990 to 2017 in the Statistical Abstracts of Manipur and from the website indiastat.com. Reasonable statistical methods, i.e. average, were used for data analysis: compound growth rate, coefficient of variance and simple linear regression. The study found that there are differences in cropping intensity between the districts and the compound growth rate (CGR) for cropping intensity was higher in Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Chandel and Senapati, medium in Imphal West, low in Thoubal and Churachandpur and Imphal East and Tamenglon. For the overall state, the growth rate of cropping intensity is only 1.1 and the total coefficient of variation in cropping intensity was 17.94%, which shows that there is variation in Manipur's net sown area and total cropped area.

A Comparative Analytical Study of Probability of Failure of Concrete in Bending and Direct Compression as per IS 456:2000 and as per IS 456:1978 | Chapter 10 | Recent Developments in Engineering Research Vol. 7

The paper aims to evaluate the reliability index of various concrete grades of bending compression and direct compression in both the method of limit state and the method of working stress by considering the allowable stresses in both methods by the method of reliability of Level I. Thus, for various grades of concrete, the likelihood of concrete failure in bending compression and direct compression in both the restricted state method and the working stress method is contrasted. Code authorities should also integrate acceptable standard concrete deviations in order to ensure uniform quality control, taking into account all applicable experimental and statistical criteria when applying them to higher concrete grades, in order to ensure consistent concrete durability.
