In order to demonstrate the production potential and economic benefit of adoption of crop management practises over established conventional practises, Front Line Demonstrations (FLD) in rice were conducted. In the region of 30 farmers in the Dakshina Kannada district of Coastal Karnataka during the Kharif season of 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16. In an area of 0.4 ha, each FLD was laid out with farmers' practise as a verification. The programme included seed treatment, INM and IPDM. The results showed that the implementation of integrated rice crop management practises registered a yield of 42.8 q/ha relative to farmers' practises (35.6), an improvement of 19.8% over a three-year period. In demonstration plots, the average technology distance and technology index were found to be 7.5 and 14.3, respectively. Compared to power, there were additional net returns obtained by Rs.11852/- in demonstration plots.
