Evaluation of Bioagents against Ceratocystis fimbriata Causing Wilt of Pomegranate | Chapter 2 | Recent Progress in Microbiology and Biotechnology Vol. 2

One of the important fruit crops, pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is now highly endangered by the wilting caused by Ceratocystis fimbriata. Against Ceratocystis fimbriata, eleven bioagents were evaluated in vitro. Trichoderma harzianum, Trichoderma isolate 1 and Trichoderma isolate 5 reported the highest percent inhibition of mycelial growth (100 percent) among the bioagents tested. It was found to be considerably superior to the remainder of the b ioagents tested. This was followed by Trichoderma isolate 4, Trichoderma virens, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Trichoderma isolate 2. In comparison, Pseudomonas putida (43.12 percent), Paecilomyces lilacinus (44.98 percent), Trichoderma isolate 3 (48.94 percent) and Bacillus subtilis (55.00 percent) recorded minimum parasitic activity.
