Mapping Stakeholder Perceptions of Service Quality: Development and Initial Validation of the e-Qual Assessment Tool in Higher Education Institutions | Chapter 1 | Language, Literature and Education: Research Updates Vol. 8

The quality of education, especially at the higher education level, is pivotal in shaping employable, globally competitive graduates. Students and families increasingly prioritise institutions recognised for quality education, viewing them as gateways to successful and fulfilling careers. In pursuit of quality and excellence in educational institutions, it is increasingly important to identify the demands and needs of stakeholders. Service quality has been identified as one such demand. The purpose of the current study was to develop and validate a quality service assessment tool based on the SERVQUAL Model to describe the service quality in a Higher Education Institution. This study utilised a development and descriptive-evaluative research design to create and validate a Quality Service Assessment Tool grounded in the SERVQUAL model. The assessment tool was subsequently administered to a total of 105 respondents, comprising students, faculty, non-teaching staff, and external stakeholders. Its distribution via Google Forms enabled a broad reach and convenient data collection. The sources of data were the heads and personnel of the different clusters of CBSUA. The study involved the adaptation and pilot testing of the model tailored for CBSUA offices. The data were treated statistically using the weighted mean and rank. Initial validation of the tool was conducted through pre-testing with a small and diverse group composed of students, faculty, non-teaching staff, and alumni. To ensure the tool's validity, expert review was also conducted. The weighted-mean scores for the five SERVQUAL dimensions across the offices of the University President, Research and Innovation, Administration and Finance, Business and External Affairs, and Academic Cluster demonstrate that respondents find all five dimensions to be appropriate for assessing the service quality of each office. The relatively high scores across all dimensions highlight the importance of Tangibility, Assurance, Reliability, Responsiveness, and Empathy in shaping stakeholders' perceptions and expectations of service quality within an educational institution. While some dimensions hold greater importance for specific offices due to their unique roles and responsibilities, all dimensions are nonetheless essential for evaluating the overall service quality in each context. The findings align with previous research on the applicability of the SERVQUAL model across various contexts, including higher education institutions. Ultimately, the results underline the significance of maintaining a high level of service quality across all dimensions in each office, as this is crucial for ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and fostering a positive reputation for the university. It is suggested that similar research be undertaken across all State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the Bicol Region to broaden the scope of validation and applicability.

Radiolographic Study on Dentition of Goat (Capra hircus) During the Prenatal Development| Chapter 4 | Innovations in Biological Science Vol. 8

The present study was planned to generate scientific baseline data on prenatal development of teeth in goat. The mammalian dentition is classified as heterodont dentition because the teeth develop differently in each region of the mouth according to their use and are grouped into incisors, canines, premolars, and molars. For the present investigation, a total of 42 representative goat fetuses were taken and they were prepared for incisor block and hemisections of head. After preparation, they were radiographed in dorso-ventral and latero-medial projection, respectively. The sequential progression of development of deciduous incisors was found as Di1, Di2, Di3, Di4. The beginning of crown formation was detected at the 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th week for Di1, Di2, Di3 and Di4 in goat fetuses, respectively. The complete crown formation and beginning of root formation were detected at 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st weeks for Di1, Di2, Di3 and Di4, respectively. All deciduous incisor teeth had roots at different stages of development at full term, but none had fully developed. The current investigation found bilateral symmetry in the development of the goat fetuses' deciduous incisor teeth. No radiological evidence was found to support the development of permanent incisor teeth in the upper and lower jaw or upper deciduous incisors. The scientific baseline data generated from the present study on various radiographic developmental stages of deciduous incisor teeth could be utilized as a guideline to estimate age in goat fetuses from the 12th week to full term. The present investigation revealed bilateral symmetry in deciduous incisor teeth development in goat fetuses. There was no any radiographic indication for development of upper deciduous incisors as well as permanent incisor teeth in the upper and lower jaw.

Assessing the Impact of Entrepreneurship Practices on the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises: Evidence from Selected SMEs in Lagos | Chapter 3 | New Advances in Business, Management and Economics Vol. 9

Small and medium-scale enterprises are very crucial to the development of a country’s economy. On the other hand, entrepreneurship plays an important role in national development, poverty eradication and employment generation. This study examined the influence of entrepreneurship practice on small and medium enterprises in Lagos. The study reviewed the contribution and performance of SMEs to the economic development of a nation that also depends on various entrepreneurship practices. A total of 65 subjects were selected (using Taro-Yamane) from the population of 79 registered SMEs in furniture businesses. Questionnaires were used as a data collection instrument. Both primary and secondary data collection techniques were employed, and the Chi-Square method was used to analyse the data. The findings showed that, despite the enormous resources that abound in the country, the SMEs sector has not played a significant role in Nigeria's economy. SMEs in Nigeria have a long way to go for the sector to be productive enough and play the crucial role it is expected to play in relation to contributing to the growth and development of the economy of Nigeria. It is recommended that the government should as a matter of urgency, assist prospective entrepreneurs to have access to finance and necessary information relating to their business opportunities, modern technology, raw material, market, plant and machinery which would enable them to reduce their operating cost and be more efficient to meet the market competition. Further studies should look into other aspects of sustainable entrepreneurs, such as their driving factors and consequences.

Households’ Role in Community-Driven Infrastructure Development: A Case Study of Ondo State, Nigeria | Chapter 7 | New Advances in Business, Management and Economics Vol. 2

Community-Driven Development (CDD) treats the people and their institutions as partners and assets in the community development process while inefficiency or lacking Infrastructure impedes the growth of economic and social-related ventures in communities. This paper explores the contribution of residents/households to communal efforts in the provision and maintenance of community infrastructure in Ondo State, Nigeria. This includes investigation into project identification, financial contribution, approaches to community development, effects of households’ action and quality of support among others. With a survey approach, three hundred and seventy (370) households were selected across the state in a multistage sampling process to administer a well-structured open and close-ended questionnaire; using residential buildings as sampling units. Six (6) urban and rural settlements were targeted for the data gathering across the three (3) senatorial districts of the state. Major findings established a high involvement in project identification and availability as labourers for general infrastructure provision. Dominant infrastructure support was in connection with electricity provision, road maintenance and water provision (in the form of boreholes and wells). Financial constraints limited road “engagement” due to the high cost of macadam surfacing. As part of the recommendations, transparency and accountability by community organisations are proposed to further encourage financial donations by residents. Also, International Organisations are encouraged to focus more on road construction in rural communities and poorly accessed areas of urban centres to make up for residents’ inability to fund such projects.

Foraminifera Proxy of Short Core Samples: A Retrospective Study of Ecological Development of Surabaya and Bali Semi-enclosed Bay, Indonesia | Chapter 4 | Emerging Issues in Environment, Geography and Earth Science Vol. 6

Retrospective overviews are essential in development planning and/or environmental health monitoring based on geological perspective through paleoecology. The studies are using various indicators, one of which is using recent foraminifera. Within last decades, the semi-enclosed bays of Lamong Bay in Surabaya and Benoa Bay in Bali have had enormous physical development. To ensure the continuity of existing infrastructure, it is necessary to discover the threats of natural and/or anthropogenic hazards through retrospective studies. Therefore the aim of this study is to reveal the ecological development of semi- enclosed bays using benthic foraminifera as a proxy over time periods. The research was conducted in March 2017, included analysis of absolute age and sedimentation rate using the Pb-210 isotope and recent foraminifera indexing from short core samples. The Ammonia-Elphidium index (A-E index) as a proxy of hypoxia and the planktonic/benthic ratio (P/B) as a proxy of open ocean flow were used in the study. The foraminiferal indeces revealed that both sites have experienced different ecological changes in the last few decades. Over the past 87 years, the Lamong Bay has undergone ecological changes, from the aquatic environment that was strongly influenced by the open sea and supports the benthic life, to shallow oligotrophic waters that cannot support benthic life. In contrast, Benoa Bay was shallow waters for 50 years and supports benthic life without any significant threat as the other coastal waters especially for the semi-enclosed bay. The research results showed that massive development in coastal areas will affect the ecological development/change of the area. Natural factors

Impacts of Ecotourism on Local Communities of Mole National Park, Ghana and Kainji Lake National Park, Nigeria: A Comparative Study| Chapter 2 | Research Developments in Arts and Social Studies Vol. 7

This study evaluated the perceived positive and negative effects of ecotourism on the way of life in the nearby villages of the national parks of Kainji Lake in Nigeria and Mole in Ghana. A structured questionnaire was given to 582 community members who resided close to the two national parks as part of this study. To evaluate the data, descriptive and inferential statistical approaches were used. People's perceptions of the impact of the ecotourism development were shown to be most positively impacted by the rise in park biodiversity conservation in both Parks. The increase in wildlife-related crop and livestock destruction in Kainji communities was the most detrimental effect of the ecotourism boom, whereas the most detrimental impact on Mole communities was the shrinkage of arable land. As stated by, the good effects at the two National Parks and the negative effects at both are significantly different, according to the results of a paired sample test (P 0.05). In order to have a greater positive influence, the park management should boost employment, particularly of natives of nearby villages in the junior cadre, and increase partnership and sponsorship to develop projects and programmes that could adequately fulfil the requirements of the communities.

Social-environmental Determinants of Graduates Innovativeness Development in Selected East Africa Countries | Chapter 13 | New Innovations in Economics, Business and Management Vol. 9

In order to enhance global human development, a collaborative effort is essential to promote creativity outside the classroom. This research looked at the social and environmental factors that influence graduates' ability to innovate in a number of East African nations. The data was obtained once using a cross-sectional study approach. The data was examined descriptively using mean rankings and percents. The findings reveal that university and allied higher learning institutions are the most important innovation support determinants for graduates, followed by regional equipment providers. It was also shown that graduates who produced innovative ideas seldom preserve their ideas. As a result, graduates were unable to take use of their intellectual property copy rights and the accompanying acknowledged advantages of invention. It is stated that while there are a number of social environmental characteristics that assist graduates' creativity in east African nations, the majority of graduates do not take advantage of these chances for innovation growth. The capacity building and stakeholder engagement strategies should be implemented as soon as possible.

Assessment of Zebrafish Heart as a Model to Investigate the Mechanisms of Sudden Cardiac Death | Chapter 12 | Issues and Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 8

The zebrafish heart has been used as a basic, low-cost model to investigate the development, anatomy, and function of the heart from infancy to adulthood. It has also been established as a model for studying various heart diseases caused by various approaches. Cardiac diseases range from functional problems like arrhythmia to structural illnesses like hypertrophic heart disease, and many of them have been linked to genetic and molecular factors. Some of these genetic and molecular variables have been implicated in human cases of sudden cardiac death. This negative consequence is typical in a variety of cardiovascular diseases and can happen at any age. Unfortunately, the aetiology and physiopathology of sudden cardiac death are unknown, necessitating further research. The goal of this review was to demonstrate the benefits of using a zebrafish model to research sudden cardiac death by taking into account the genetic, molecular, and physiological information available on cardiovascular development and function throughout its life cycle. A literature search was conducted for this review utilising the PubMed database and the Google Scholar search engine, using the terms sudden cardiac death, zebrafish, arrhythmias, and cardiomyopathies combined.

Study about Interpersonal Communication for Development | Chapter 7 | Research Developments in Arts and Social Studies Vol.1

This paper aims to laud the overwhelming synergy between interpersonal communication and growth, as well as to prove that interpersonal communication is a requirement for meaningful and long-term development. For a better understanding of the discourse, basic concepts were defined, explained, and appropriate examples were supplied. The study goes on to address different types of interpersonal communication, interpersonal communication in relationships, interpersonal communication aspects, and noise in communication as a major hindrance to communication. The paper used a content analysis method to examine scientific papers from books, journals, and the internet. The authors suggest for a channel mix in which interpersonal communication is combined with mass media and social media to promote more effective long-term growth. Finally, certain findings and inferences were drawn.

Prenatal Maternal Stress Due to Repeated Exposure to Cold Environment Affects Development of Catecholamine Neurons in Rat Offsprings | Chapter 16 | Recent Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 8

We studied the effect of maternal recurrent cold stress (RCS) on catecholamine neuron development in offspring using 8-day-old pups and tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) immunohistochemistry. RCS was loaded into pregnant rats between the 10th and 20th day after fertilisation. In rats prenatally exposed to RCS, the frontal and cingulate cortices had less TH-immunoreactive (-ir) fibres, and the density of TH-ir varicosities with a large size (more than 7 m in diameter) was significantly (p0.05) lower than in controls. Locus coeruleus neurons in prenatal RCS rats displayed lower TH immunoreactivity than controls. RCS rats showed smaller TH-ir neurons and fewer TH-ir fibres in the medullary C1/A1 catecholaminergic field, but the differences were not significant. In the originating and projection regions of the midbrain dopaminergic system, we identified no differences in TH-ir structures between the two groups. According to these research, prenatal RCS impaired the development of catecholaminergic neurons in pups, particularly noradrenergic neurons.
