E-commerce Adoption on Inventory Management for Manufacturing Companies in Nigeria: An Econometric Study | Chapter 6 | Business, Management and Economics: Research Progress Vol. 3

Electronic commerce, otherwise known as e-commerce is increasingly evolving itself into a dynamic force changing the logistics activities within the Nigerian manufacturing industry. Inventory management is an essential element of supply chain management, involving the supervision and control of the order, storage, and utilisation of components essential for production, as well as the management of finished products awaiting sale. The study examined the effect of Business-to-Business E-commerce adoption on inventory management using manufacturing companies in Nigeria under the category of consumer goods as a case study. Inefficient inventory management leading to a rise in costs and a decrease in customer satisfaction level is one of the major challenges encountered by Nigerian manufacturing companies but this can be resolved through the implementation of e-commerce hence the study focussed on inventory management variables which are; inventory accuracy, stockout frequency, inventory turnover rate, demand forecasting accuracy, storage optimisation, inventory holding costs, supplier reliability, inventory audit frequency, obsolete inventory and inventory replenishment. The explosion of e-commerce in the logistics sector has posed a challenge that must be effectively managed to sustain the volume of goods across long distances, the interface between e-commerce and in particular inventory management, for instance via stocks and warehousing has become so important to be overlooked. The study was carried out in Nigeria and the population of the study includes staff of 20 manufacturing companies listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange as of 2023. A simple random sampling technique was used to select 718 respondents. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire and was analysed using both one-sample t-test analysis and multivariant regression analysis. E-commerce has a positive and significant effect on stockout frequency (P = 0.000), inventory turnover rate (P=0.000), demand forecasting accuracy (P=0.000), storage optimisation (P=0.000), and inventory replenishment (P=0.000). The findings revealed significant improvements in inventory accuracy, reduced stockout frequency, increased inventory turnover rate, and improved demand forecasting accuracy. Evidently, these findings imply that the adoption of e-commerce is essential in optimising inventory management processes and thus recommends that manufacturing companies should further utilise digital tools to enable better forecasting in inventory management and efficient stock handling in order to efficiently track stock levels, enhance demand forecasting and then improve the overall inventory control.

The exponential rise in internet penetration and mobile technology adoption has transformed consumer behaviour, fuelling a massive shift towards online shopping in India. This digital transformation has paved the way for a dynamic e-commerce market where customer preferences, trust factors, and purchasing habits play a pivotal role in shaping business strategies. Understanding the key determinants influencing consumer behaviour is essential for e-commerce companies to optimize their platforms, improve customer satisfaction, and build long-term engagement.

This study delves into the mindset of consumers in Bhopal City regarding online shopping, analyzing their perceptions, motivations, and challenges. A structured online survey was conducted using Google Forms, gathering responses from 166 participants across diverse demographics, including students, working professionals, and self-employed individuals. The study investigates critical factors such as trust and security concerns, preferred payment methods, purchasing patterns, product preferences, and the role of digital marketing in influencing consumer decisions.

The findings reveal that while online shopping is widely accepted due to its convenience, competitive pricing, and wide product range, several barriers still hinder its full potential. Issues related to payment security, online fraud risks, delayed deliveries, return policies, and the reliability of product descriptions were found to impact consumer confidence. Moreover, the study highlights how social media advertisements, promotional discounts, and influencer marketing have emerged as significant drivers of online purchasing decisions.

The insights gained from this research are particularly beneficial for e-commerce businesses, digital marketers, and policymakers, enabling them to develop strategies that address consumer concerns and enhance their online retail experience. By understanding the evolving digital consumer behaviour in tier-2 cities like Bhopal, e-commerce companies can refine their market approaches and expand their customer base more effectively.

Transforming Online Retail: The Impact of Augmented and Virtual Reality on Consumer Engagement and Experience in E-Commerce | Chapter 6 | Current Progress in Arts and Social Studies Research Vol. 10

This study investigates the transformative role of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies in e-commerce and digital marketing. It aims to understand how these immersive technologies enhance consumer experiences by addressing challenges like product visualization, consumer trust, and engagement while fostering higher purchase intent and customer satisfaction. A systematic literature review synthesizes findings from empirical and theoretical studies published between 2011 and 2024. The methodologies analyzed include experimental designs, market analyses, and conceptual frameworks assessing the integration of AR and VR technologies in online retail. The findings indicate that AR enhances online shopping through features such as virtual try-ons and spatial placement visualization, reducing return rates and increasing purchase confidence. Conversely, VR provides immersive environments that simulate physical shopping experiences, strengthening consumer-brand connections. While AR demonstrates broader applicability in fostering interactive and personalized experiences, VR remains limited by accessibility and cost constraints. Both technologies exhibit immediate costs but offer long-term benefits, positively influencing conversion rates and customer loyalty. This study contributes to consumer behavior research by applying value perception models, immersive technology frameworks, and engagement metrics to the e-commerce landscape. It refines existing theoretical perspectives on technological adoption by highlighting the interplay between sensory engagement, emotional connection, and consumer decision-making. The research underscores the strategic importance of integrating AR and VR into digital marketing and e-commerce platforms. It suggests leveraging AR for product categories requiring spatial interaction and using VR for high-detail product exploration. The study provides actionable insights for businesses looking to enhance online shopping experiences through immersive technologies. This study offers a comprehensive synthesis of AR and VR applications in e-commerce, highlighting their potential to reshape online shopping. Bridging the gap between physical and digital retail experiences provides a fresh perspective on how immersive technologies can drive engagement, accessibility, and personalized consumer interactions. While this study synthesizes existing literature, empirical validation through longitudinal studies and cross-industry applications is necessary. Future research should explore the long-term effects of AR and VR adoption on consumer trust, loyalty, and behavioral changes. Additionally, further exploration is encouraged into gamification, artificial intelligence (AI) integration, and demographic-specific implementations to drive sustainable engagement.

From Cart to Click: Understanding Consumer Attitude towards Technology Enabled Online Grocery Shopping | Chapter 2 | Science and Technology - Recent Updates and Future Prospects Vol. 6

Online grocery shopping is trending worldwide as one of the most expedient e‑commerce practices. Many people have started purchasing their groceries online and this has allowed the researchers to identify and analyse the factors that influence the consumers for making online purchases. We have observed that until around 5 years back, the daily grocery requirements of the Indian consumers were fulfilled by the local Kirana store and to some extent by the emerging hypermarkets/supermarkets. But, with the popularity of the internet and the penetration of smartphones into the daily lives of people, several online grocery stores have been able to penetrate the Indian markets. The busy lives of people especially the urban working population, make online grocery shopping a popular choice. With traditional households still being widely spread in Indian society, online companies need to have a resounding approach to influence the buying habits and shopping patterns of consumers. The aim of this study is to understand the attitude of Indian consumers toward online grocery shopping and determine the factors that influence the consumer decision making to shop for groceries online. In this paper, we have comprehensively explored different areas associated with online grocery shopping and this study can be advantageous for online grocery retailers to articulate effective policies to gain customer confidence toward online grocery shopping. First, in-depth interviews with 20 to 25 people were conducted to have an overall impression of the views of Indian consumers on shopping the groceries online. Then, a survey with a well-thought-out questionnaire was circulated to around 150 people. The total number of complete responses was collected from 125 people. The primary data was collected and analysed to determine the consumer attitude towards online grocery shopping. The findings of the study show that the consumers are influenced by various factors like time-saving and convenience provided by online grocery shopping platforms. The result indicated that 64% of the respondents shop for groceries online, yet a considerable population was still comfortable shopping through the traditional brick-and-mortar stores. They are also influenced by the quality of products and the return policy as well as the level of comfort while using the online shopping website/ app. We have also been able to understand the reasons that prevent people from online shopping. Some people find themselves lacking the technical skills to shop online, but most people who do not shop online like going to the market personally. In the case of online shopping, an area of concern for most shoppers is trusting online applications. People are concerned about the privacy of their personal information while shopping online and need the thoughtfulness of the retailers to encourage more consumers to opt for online shopping platforms.

A Review of the Capability to Use Technology Acceptance Theories in the Context of Ecommerce | Chapter 5 | Current Aspects in Business, Economics and Finance Vol. 10

Technology agreement theories are mainly met on measuring the consumer adaption of new technologies. Those science acceptance believes were using to measure online buying intention by researchers. It maybe seen those hypotheses were directly focused on mechanics components while rejecting retailer, customer, medium and most additional macro characteristic engaged accompanying online buying. Hence, it is mandatory to study the capability to use electronics acceptance hypotheses to measure online purchasing goal. Main technology acceptance hypotheses were critically judged by considering their context used, concept and process adjustment with online buying to identify the uniqueness of each model. Results of the Evaluation habitual the technology agreement theories were directly used to measure science acceptance behaviour in an administrative context. Further it was confirmed the distinctnesses in contexts, theoretical ideas and processes between the peasant in an organization and online services. Finally, evaluation was habitual, and technology acceptance believes were directly used to measure technology agreement behaviour in an organizational circumstances. When comparing the worker in an organisational circumstances to the online services in online purchasing, skilled was a distinction in circumstances, concept, process, and theoretical facets. Therefore, it is impossible to directly measure connected to the internet purchasing goal using those technology agreement theories.   Similarly, Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT), the Unified hypothesis of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) and the hypothesis of Reason Action (TRA) cannot be used  measure online buying because individual customers were engaged with new electronics such as an connected to the internet game or email, and TRA requires a extreme level of volitional control. Therefore, it is essential to build a global model that evaluates connected to the internet purchasing while maximising the theoretical bases of earlier science acceptance.

Investigating the Dimensions of Consumer Protection in E-Commerce | Chapter 4 | Modern Perspectives in Economics, Business and Management Vol. 10

Any business transaction that involves the transfer of data via the internet is referred to as e-commerce. In recent years, electronic commerce has increased significantly. The distinction between "traditional" and "electronic" trading will dissolve in the future as more businesses migrate parts of their operations to the Internet. The Internet has given consumers a powerful tool for searching for and purchasing goods and services. The first business-to-consumer e-commerce site in India was Baazee.com. eBay paid $50 million for Baazee.com Inc. and its subsidiary Baazee.com India Pvt Ltd in 2004. New players such as Flipkart.com, Snapdeal.com, and Amazon.in entered the E-commerce business as internet availability increased in India. Several E-commerce enterprises, such as lenskart.com, which offers spectacles, specialise on a specific product sector. Businesses are also exploring into areas where customers are hesitant to buy products and services from traditional brick-and-mortar establishments, such as cilory.com, which sells a wide range of lingerie. The prevalence of smartphones has boosted the growth of E-commerce in India. The surge in popularity of E-commerce has brought with it a plethora of customer issues, including personal information leaks, unauthorised payments, and credit and debit card information theft. The present legal protections given in the sphere of e-commerce are investigated in this article. The research also looks into areas where there are still gaps to be filled.
