Financial Ethics: A Comprehensive Framework for Leadership Practices |Chapter 1 | The Tapestry of Development: Weaving Ethics into a Sustainable Future

Financial ethics forms the foundation of trust and stability in the complex world of finance. It goes beyond mere compliance with regulations. It involves adhering to a moral compass that guides decision-making and actions, ensuring fairness, integrity, and accountability. This study aims to develop a comprehensive framework for leadership practices that foster responsible innovation in the financial sector. The goal is to harmonise technological advancements with ethical considerations and societal well-being, thereby strengthening financial stability and public trust. Rapid digital transformation in finance, including the rise of FinTech, algorithmic decision-making, and data-driven platforms, has outpaced existing governance and ethical safeguards. Current leadership practices often fail to address ethical dilemmas such as algorithmic bias, data privacy breaches, and ESG integration gaps, resulting in diminished public trust, systemic risks, and potential financial instability. The research adopts a systematic literature review (SLR) to synthesise empirical studies, best practices, and theoretical frameworks related to financial ethics, responsible innovation, and ethical leadership. This approach allows for a structured evaluation of the state of knowledge, identifying critical gaps and actionable strategies. The study contributes by proposing a leadership framework for responsible financial innovation. It integrates ethical decision-making, stakeholder engagement, transparent governance, and ESG principles into organisational structures and innovation strategies. This framework offers practical guidance for financial institutions, regulators, and policymakers seeking to balance innovation with ethical governance. The literature highlights persistent ethical challenges in financial innovation, with particular concern for algorithmic bias, weak accountability mechanisms, and inadequate stakeholder involvement. It also demonstrates that embedding ethical leadership and ESG considerations into financial decision-making strengthens resilience, enhances trust, and promotes sustainable development. His research concludes that the future of financial stability and sustainability depends on leadership practices that integrate ethics into innovation processes. By aligning technology adoption with transparent governance, stakeholder engagement, and ESG integration, financial institutions can restore public trust and ensure responsible digital transformation. The proposed framework provides a roadmap for creating a secure, inclusive, and sustainable financial system.

Reimagining Provincial Supply Chain Management in South Africa: A Digital and Institutional Transformation Framework | Chapter 1 | New Advances in Business, Management and Economics Vol. 11

This chapter critically evaluates the effectiveness of supply chain management (SCM) reforms in South Africa’s provincial government sector. South Africa's provincial landscape is divided into nine provinces: Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Free State, North-West, and Northern Cape, each having different capacities, infrastructure readiness, and procurement maturity. The aim was to identify key institutional and digital transformation levers necessary for overhauling provincial supply chain management systems. This study was motivated by the persistent challenges in provincial SCM, ranging from bureaucratic inertia to technological underutilisation, highlighting the urgent need for reform. Furthermore, the inquest was also driven by the imperative to transition towards more accountable and digitally enabled governance that aligns with developmental objectives. Employing a qualitative research design, the study used thematic analysis to draw insights from policy documents and relevant literature. In addition, thematic analysis was conducted on both interview data and secondary sources. Findings reveal a persistent misalignment between SCM policies and institutional implementation capabilities. Key challenges include a lack of digital infrastructure, inadequate skills, inconsistent oversight mechanisms, and resistance to change. The adoption of the proposed eight-pillar digital and institutional transformation framework can significantly enhance the effectiveness of SCM in provincial departments. Furthermore, this framework is especially relevant in KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape, and Limpopo, where audit results have consistently highlighted issues such as improper expenditure, noncompliance with SCM rules, and paper-based procurement processes. It provides policymakers and managers with actionable insights to redesign governance systems that are more responsive, transparent, and developmentally aligned. This study contributes to the SCM reform discourse by bridging theoretical and practical gaps in public procurement transformation. It puts forth a framework that supports both digital innovation and institutional coherence.

Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation in New Product Development: Evidence from the Saudi Arabian Retail Market | Chapter 3 | New Advances in Business, Management and Economics Vol. 10

Saudi Arabia is experiencing a rapid digital transformation, driven by its Vision 2030 initiative, aimed at diversifying the economy and reducing reliance on oil. In the fast-evolving landscape of global business, understanding the dynamics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) role and the digital transformation of New Product Development and Launch (NPDL) is critical for continuous success. The present book chapter explored the established methodology adopted to develop and launch new products in Saudi Arabia with a particular focus on insight into retail marketing management. This study presents a detailed case study of Almarai and Aujan Coca-Cola Beverages Limited companies of Saudi Arabia. The data was gathered from retail managers at two major companies actively involved in the NPDL process. Both firms utilise the Stage-Gate methodology, widely regarded as a leading NPD framework. The Stage-Gate is arguably the greatest and most experimentally implemented new product development (NPD) methodology, providing a competitive edge in the age of competition, even though it has changed over time. Both the companies adopted a prescribed Stage-Gate process, but Aujan has implemented this methodology more effectively than Almarai, likely due to Aujan having greater expertise in using the Stage-Gate framework.  All of the operation executives at Almarai and Aujan come to the same conclusion: Stage-Gate is a mechanism that makes it easier for the operation team to carry out the entire process of developing and launching a new product in a way that makes it profitable. Aujan got the benefits of an NPDL mechanism based on the Stage-Gate process since the inception of globalisation, when it faced the heat of competition. The 5-Milestones are proven very helpful in improving the organisation’s representative character, functional adequacy and financial viability. The study concludes by emphasising the critical role of sales and retail operations planning—especially in demand forecasting—and highlights the importance of continuous review and strategic refinement of the NPDL process to remain competitive in an increasingly digital and globalised retail environment.

E-commerce Adoption on Inventory Management for Manufacturing Companies in Nigeria: An Econometric Study | Chapter 6 | Business, Management and Economics: Research Progress Vol. 3

Electronic commerce, otherwise known as e-commerce is increasingly evolving itself into a dynamic force changing the logistics activities within the Nigerian manufacturing industry. Inventory management is an essential element of supply chain management, involving the supervision and control of the order, storage, and utilisation of components essential for production, as well as the management of finished products awaiting sale. The study examined the effect of Business-to-Business E-commerce adoption on inventory management using manufacturing companies in Nigeria under the category of consumer goods as a case study. Inefficient inventory management leading to a rise in costs and a decrease in customer satisfaction level is one of the major challenges encountered by Nigerian manufacturing companies but this can be resolved through the implementation of e-commerce hence the study focussed on inventory management variables which are; inventory accuracy, stockout frequency, inventory turnover rate, demand forecasting accuracy, storage optimisation, inventory holding costs, supplier reliability, inventory audit frequency, obsolete inventory and inventory replenishment. The explosion of e-commerce in the logistics sector has posed a challenge that must be effectively managed to sustain the volume of goods across long distances, the interface between e-commerce and in particular inventory management, for instance via stocks and warehousing has become so important to be overlooked. The study was carried out in Nigeria and the population of the study includes staff of 20 manufacturing companies listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange as of 2023. A simple random sampling technique was used to select 718 respondents. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire and was analysed using both one-sample t-test analysis and multivariant regression analysis. E-commerce has a positive and significant effect on stockout frequency (P = 0.000), inventory turnover rate (P=0.000), demand forecasting accuracy (P=0.000), storage optimisation (P=0.000), and inventory replenishment (P=0.000). The findings revealed significant improvements in inventory accuracy, reduced stockout frequency, increased inventory turnover rate, and improved demand forecasting accuracy. Evidently, these findings imply that the adoption of e-commerce is essential in optimising inventory management processes and thus recommends that manufacturing companies should further utilise digital tools to enable better forecasting in inventory management and efficient stock handling in order to efficiently track stock levels, enhance demand forecasting and then improve the overall inventory control.

Public-Private Partnerships and Digital Transformation: A New Approach to Local Development in Tunisia | Chapter 8 | New Advances in Business, Management and Economics Vol. 6

Nowadays, faced with various challenges, the territory is at the heart of every development strategy. Indeed, it represents the focus of public action, a domain where institutional and non-institutional policymakers, as well as development practitioners, contribute. Local development relies on its ability to improve living standards within territories and enhance their economic attractiveness to foreign investments. However, achieving this goal requires the implementation of a set of tools that integrate managerial, relational, and legislative dimensions. These tools are closely linked to innovation and the ability of local authorities to leverage technologies, particularly Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Digitalisation plays a crucial role in transforming territories by strengthening their attractiveness at various levels, simplifying administrative procedures, and fostering social cohesion.

In this context, digital technology has become central to the modernisation strategy of the Tunisian administration. Various initiatives have been launched to bring public services closer to citizens, enhance procedural transparency, and combat corruption. This chapter examines the relationship between digital innovation and local development, emphasising the impact of this dynamic on territorial transformation. To achieve this, theoretical proposals have been developed to better understand this relationship. The study adopts an interpretivist paradigm underpinned by an abductive reasoning approach. Given the multifaceted nature of digital transformation in local governance, the aim is to develop a nuanced understanding of how digitalisation is affecting local development in Tunisia. To address the complexity of the subject matter, an exploratory qualitative methodology has been employed, integrating both primary and secondary data sources to capture a comprehensive view of the ongoing transformation.

The findings reveal several obstacles hindering the effectiveness of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) based on digital innovation. Nevertheless, efficient management of digital resources can have a significant impact on local and territorial development, particularly within the Tunisian context. In the public sector, the adoption of digital tools is a pivotal element for administrative success. For digital transformation to effectively bridge the gap between administration and citizens, it requires strong leadership commitment. The conclusion provides valuable insights into development models in a state undergoing transformation. While the adoption of digital technologies in Tunisia, especially through PPPs, has demonstrated substantial benefits in terms of economic and administrative efficiencies, there remains a critical need for ongoing research to refine the measures of innovation and better understand the interplay between resource mobilisation, innovation, and territorial development.

Continuous testing as DevOps emerged as a remedy against the problems to make for smooth and successful cloud migration.

Aim: The study examines Continuous Testing (CT) in a DevOps environment for cloud migration within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry and InsurTech companies. The study evaluates the impact of AI/ML-driven test automation, security testing, and performance validation using tools like Selenium, JUnit, and TestNG; CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps.

Methodology: This study takes a mixed methods approach that incorporates case studies, industry surveys, and experimental testing to assess the efficiency of Continuous Testing in cloud migration strategies. Through experimentation with automated testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, and Jenkins, the improvements in efficiency were measured. A comparative analysis was employed to measure the performance indicators prior to and after the CT implementation.

Findings: Continuous testing (CT) substantially enhances cloud-migration efficiency for P&C insurance. Companies that have had CT in their version of DevOps have executed a 40-60% increase in software release cycles, leading to faster deployments. Automated testing dragged post-deployment issues down by 35%, thereby increasing the reliability of the software. Compliance with industry requirements was much better because continuous security checks lessen risks. Another benefit included a reduction of about 20-30% in testing costs due to automation that replaced human testing. On top of this, the way for more applications to be resilient to system failures was opened; applications were supported and maintained. The post-migration data should always specify that applications have 99.9% uptime. In the heavily regulated insurance sector, continuous testing thus becomes a much faster, more secure, and cost-effective measure for moving to the cloud.

Conclusion: The adoption of continuous testing into DevOps for migration to the cloud disrupted the status quo in many sectors, especially in property & casualty insurance, banking, entertainment, and aviation.
