Revolutionizing Online Learning for Optimal Performance |Chapter 7 | An Overview of Literature, Language and Education Research Vol. 4

Many universities have even implemented hybrid courses incorporating classroom and online learning into the learning environment. Reimagining online learning is a critical step toward achieving peak academic performance in higher education. Since the pandemic, online learning has increased in popularity providing increased accessibility and allowing students to attend classes from anywhere at any time. Online learning has many advantages as well as disadvantages which can all be managed with a well-designed course. The most obvious benefits are flexibility and cost savings with students having the ability to hold a job. As online education grows, online learning will likely become an increasingly important component of education at all levels. Higher education plays an important role in society today as it contributes to economic development and experiential learning opportunities that advance knowledge and engage students in critical thinking in their field of study. Online discussions provide a means for student reflection and contribute to the student's overall success and performance in their academic and professional communities. While online learning has challenges, an increase in online learning indicates that the positive changes that occurred during COVID-19 are here to stay. Effective educators must take the time to understand their strengths and skills to target their students’ potential and improve their growth. Focusing on positive solutions and recognizing success boosts student morale and helps them achieve their goals by fostering a spirit of innovation.

Digitalization in Uzbekistan's Higher Education: A View Through the Lens of Opportunity | Chapter 3 | Language, Literature and Education: Research Updates Vol. 6

The global educational landscape underwent a dramatic shift during the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing educational institutions worldwide to embrace digital solutions. This study examines the digital transformation of Uzbekistan's higher education system and its implications. Despite significant strides in digitalization globally, Uzbekistan faces unique challenges in modernizing its traditional educational structures, creating a notable research gap in understanding effective digital transition strategies for developing educational systems. Research indicates that digitalization has profoundly improved various aspects of higher education: streamlining administrative processes, enhancing educational assessment methods, facilitating the transition from traditional to online learning environments, introducing innovative educational business models, and reshaping employment market requirements. This study analyzes the various digital initiatives undertaken by Uzbekistan's Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and examines their impact within the framework of the "Concept of Development of the Higher Education System of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030." This finding suggests that comprehensive implementation of digital education tools is essential for addressing the existing challenges in Uzbekistan's higher education system, with significant implications for educational accessibility, quality, and labor market alignment.

The Effect of Blended Learning Simulation on Learning Outcome | Chapter 1 | Language, Literature and Education: Research Updates Vol. 3

The development of aviation training grew rapidly along with the development of technology and science. Therefore, it is necessary for instructional designers to produce new instructional models to take advantage of educational research and development results. This paper presents the formative evaluation for an instructional model for Aerodrome Flight Information training development. The developed instructional model was a blending of e-briefing with face-to-face  role-play simulation and debriefing. The aim of this study was to improve the effectiveness of the developed instructional model. Respondents were selected from eight students who represent low, medium, and high learning achievement students.  This study employed a formative evaluation by Tessmer (2013) with both used qualitative and quantitative approaches. The respondents of field test are 22 students of the 2016-2017 academic years. The formative evaluation consisted of expert review, one-to-one, small group, and field test. This research was carried out at Indonesia Civil Aviation Institute. The data were collected through open-end interview, questionnaire, and field observation. The data analysis used descriptive statistic method. The finding indicates that the blended learning simulation-based model increased learning outcome (+12.55); students and instructors were more satisfy when they implemented this model (4.47); and the model increased student’s attention level (4.5). Based on the findings, the proposed instructional model can be implemented in this institution.

Improvement of Learner Retention for English Online Courses in Center of Foreign Languages, Vietnam | Chapter 05 | Current Research in Language, Literature and Education Vol. 6

Due to the widespread shutdown of schools as a result of the Covid-19 epidemic, online learning has lately grown in popularity. While the number of online students continues to rise, keeping them enrolled in online courses and programmes has proven challenging. The ability of a school to keep students engaged in their studies, accomplish their educational goals, and avoid dropping out is measured by retention rates. This study uses an online survey to evaluate 164 online learners at a foreign language centre with the purpose of discovering effective ways to promote student retention and analysing various reasons why learners drop out of their online studying. The data show that online learning is still a revolutionary trend in education, with positive learner retention rates in most cases. Courses are available online. The survey identified common causes for class attrition, including a hectic job or school schedule, health issues, Internet or energy supply issues, and a lack of suitable engagement in online classrooms. Institutions may swiftly apply the findings to their policies and practises by following the practical recommendations.

Online Learning in the 21st Century: Perspectives from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria | Chapter 03 | Issues and Development in Health Research Vol. 6

At the height of the COVID 19 outbreak, schools in Nigeria were closed and lectures were halted. With many expected obstacles, the capacity of the Nigerian educational environment to conduct online interactions may be stretched thin.

Objectives: To determine medical students' and residents' existing knowledge with and use of online classroom platforms, as well as the hurdles to their use in medical education.

Methods: A semi-structured online questionnaire was used in a descriptive comparative study design. A Google survey of 128 medical students and residents in training at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital was conducted to analyse demographics, online learning tools availability, and implementation. Both groups were familiar with Google Classroom but used it infrequently, and they preferred mobile devices over computers. The ease of utilising Google classroom for interfacing or communicating between learners and facilitators was affected by Internet availability, Pearson correlation, 0.185, p = 0.037, but not by the availability of electric power, Pearson correlation, 0.135, p = 0.133.

Conclusions: Medical students and residents are generally well-versed in a variety of Google classroom LMS platforms. However, reliable electric power, internet access, and proficiency in creating multimedia presentations and uploading them for assessment may increase the usage of online learning platforms for undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in Nigeria. Learners must inspire facilitators by handing in assignments on time in order for online learning to continue without interruption.

Study Perception of First-Year Medical Students on the Use of WhatsApp as a Supplementary Learning Tool | Chapter 13 | New Frontiers in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 8

The use of WhatsApp as a communication channel among students, as well as between students and faculties, is increasing. The purpose of this study was to learn about first-year medical students' opinions on the effectiveness of WhatsApp as a teaching and learning tool as a supplement to traditional teaching methods.

Materials and Methods: The research was carried out at a private medical college in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The study included 150 medical students (n=150) from the first year of the 2017-18 batch. The "Anatomy Department Official Group" was launched as a distinct WhatsApp group. The group was used to share instructional resources such as powerpoint presentations from Gross Anatomy and Histology lectures, notes on various themes, Histology slides photomicrograph, Spotters featuring photographs of Gross specimens with questions, and for general discussion.

According to our findings, 98 percent of students agreed or strongly agreed that learning material delivered via WhatsApp was freely accessible and downloadable. It has also enabled them to learn whenever and wherever they want, with 82 percent of students reporting that the learning materials supplied through WhatsApp had increased their confidence in learning Anatomy.

Conclusion: Because of the benefits of utilising WhatsApp as a teaching and learning medium for first-year medical students, as viewed by students, the author suggests that WhatsApp groups can be utilised as a supplement to traditional teaching techniques.
